Don't tell me I am wrong because I am not. I see dozens and dozens of posts that are copy and pasted from the bible as answers. I see them attack everyone who DOES NOT follow their beliefs and they are insulting and pushy and hypocritical. Why is this behavior condoned? Why can't they practice what they preach instead of doing the exact opposite and attacking everyone who they do not agree with. I remember a saying, "Do as I say, not as I do." I think that applys here. These Christians tell us we are the ones who insult them when in reality, IT IS THEM INSULTING US. Hypocrisy is a sin so they are sinning when attacking all the rest of us non believers. The funny part is that they think they have a right to do it. What and who gives them that right? Who do they think they are? They are not special, they are NOT God so I think that they need to cope with the fact that they are not superior to anyone.

After reading the responses I will change it to some not all. If you read the link I posted, you can see that was what my question was based on.

The link was a Christian woman saying that ALL non believers are sickening to her and that we all are depraved and so on. She based it on ALL religions other than hers.

This is one of you so called Christians WE have to put up with!
Why is Yahoo Answers so Gay orientated?
My question stems from a recent answer I gave some how was deemed offensive. I now ask why is it that Homosexuals, Pagans, Wicca's, Atheist and other haters of Christians can be disrespectful and not be admonished for their answers. When I answered a question with logic and honesty I was admonished for my beliefs. Its a shame that Godliness is now considered repulsive and depravity is highly cherished

Amen to this question--the whole "pushy evangelist" routine drives me crazy. It certainly doesn't go along with the main Christian goal of being Christ-like.

Why were the crusades started? Why are three major religions fighting over a slag of rock they all consider sacred. People can get pushy when it comes to beliefs. It is so hard in cyberspace to hold someone accountable for their words. Could you believe this is coming from a thirteen year old? No. Because the comfort of typing can make someone more audible. No offense, but most of the pushy ones are cultists, or bible thumpers the pope would be ashamed of. These people have almost no lives, and spend their time harassing people, thinking they will convert. We Roman Catholics and our brothers and sisters all know that we are no better then a good hearted atheist if we are a homicidal christian. The fire and brimstone methods of teaching Scripture is what wrote the passion. It was devised in the middle ages to scare all nonbelievers. Thank you and godbless.

Selective observation is always a trap isn't it? I see what you see, but I also know exceptions, friends I've maintainted since leaving ministry and leaving the faith, like the couple I'm having dinner with Friday (he's still pastoring by the way). They are not about imposing Christian culture on anyone, but are in fact seeking to have and share a genuine spiritual connection with the divine, so they don't hang out at places like this haranguing the infidels.
I grant that American culture is overwhelmed with the triumphalist evangelicalism of the Crusaders, which is just as prone to be turned to any but a spiritual purpose by wicked people today as it was ten centuries ago. But at the same time I do separate the fundamentalist Christian culture of damning the infidels, where one of the rewards they look forward to most is watching the unbelievers burn, and the Biblical teachings on sharing the Gospel which are often ignored.
I can tell you that one of my greatest frustrations in ministry was always that those who made the least effort to understand the scripture always laid on others the most pietistic reading possible, and made the most use of scripture as a weapon and as a justification for bad and boorish behavior and self-righteousness. In that sense, religious chauvinists of all stripes remain a pox on humanity, whatever their nominal faith, and that has not changed all these years after Christ confronted the Scribes and Pharisees for the same error of piety absent humility, charity and compassion.

I'm a Christian but I certainly have never felt that I am superior in any way--I'm just like everyone else who struggles and questions things. I also sin against God and need His forgiveness every day. I don't even know how to copy & paste. lol I never mean to offend others with the answers I give or the questions I ask, although I do give lots of Scriptures--but that's because I want people to know why I believe what I'm saying and also so they can look them up for themselves if they want to. Some don't like it when questions are answered with Scriptures, but some also don't like it if answers aren't backed up by Scriptures. I don't attack other people and I try to be respectful to everyone, but I don't think that has to mean that I can't disagree with them and give my reasons for it. I dislike hypocrisy as much as anyone, whether Christian, atheist, Muslim, etc. This forum is for everyone to be able to express their beliefs, without compromise. It doesn't mean we all have to agree with each other.
P.S.--Tried the link, it wouldn't work.

I know I am superior to no one, I have many faults that I struggle with daily. Usually when I quote Scripture, it is to show that I am not making up anything about Christianity. It is a way for other Christians to know that I am using the Word in case they would like to study what I am saying or for nonChristians, so they can see why I think the things I do.
I do not think anyone has the right to be demeaning and insulting. Those who behave that way may be guilty of speaking Christianity but not practising. God will deal with them. I can see you feel very angry and I would like to say that I feel bad for whatever experience you had that has seperated you and turned you against all Christians.
** I tried your link but it did not work.

Simply posting bible scripture is not an attack but it may feel like an attack if you realize how much sin you've commit ed without repentance (conviction). Therefore, it is not a Christians fault but evidence that Gods word is effective in its purpose. However, I am aware that many high minded Pharisee like Christians take bible scripture and persecute both Christians and non-believers alike with it and I think that is wrong. We are simply supposed to preach and teach the word to those who desire to learn about God. Conviction is the work of the Holy Spirit of God. It is because of Gods desire that no one should perish (go to hell) He has given all the world a Savior. However, you must first realize how sinful you are, be whole heartily sorry for it, confess sin to God, turn from it, ask God to help you to overcome sin, and most importantly accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior / the only accepted price paid for all sin by God! This fact does not make me or anyone else superior. It simply puts the truth out there for people to choose to believe it or not.

I notice that you don't say what religion you are? If you are saying.. "us" what "us" is that? You are saying "us" and "we".. like a war is going on with you. In my view there is no "us" or "we".. the word you should be looking for is "are".
I think and hope that one day we will all live in peace with each other. The ARE being us all living together..
Calling all Christians hypocrites is a bit harsh don't you think? Try not to judge. Most make mistakes. If you are free of making mistakes then you will be free to say.. hypocrites, superior, insulting, pushy.... but I have a feeling that you are not free of this are you?
All religions think that they are superior.. that they are the true way .. the light of life. I have another feeling that you have never questioned your faith.. if indeed you have any. Like many Christians have just followed and not questioned theirs.
I don't know what to believe myself. I try to help.. be honest and not judgemental in my life. Life has been harsh but I have coped with most of it. I have seen a lot of people suffering because of their beliefs. All I am is me. Accept that people are not perfect. Accept that some make mistakes. That maybe at one particular time they may come to the same conclusion .. that they have or might be wrong as well in their actions as you have been judging all people that follow one faith.
I wish you good health and in the words of our prophet .. dave allen ......... MAY YOUR GOD GO WITH YOU!.
:-)

Not all Christians are that way. But I agree, there are many who would impose their belief systems on others. Christians should lead by example rather than by word.
Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion or non-opinion about God/Supreme Being. What we Christians believe in, spiritually speaking, must be reflected in our physical lives, as a model for others, not because we are better than they are, but because we would like to see how a life truly transformed by accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior could become a very useful member of the society in which we live.

I do not feel superior to you, ALL is wrong, MOST I don't think so either, but there are quite a few that come across as arrogant and condescending.
I don't know anyone who in some way is not hypocritical, except Jesus Christ.
I am a Christian and I have been verbally attacked on YQ&A.
The big task is not to attack back.

I actually have gone through a lot of religions in my short life and something I noticed was all of them believed they were superior to everyone...in my opinion, the Jews fit this stereotype a little more.
By the way, I'm not trying to be anti-Jew or anything it's just something I noticed while experimenting with this religion and actually working at a kosher deli.
