If you have not been diagnosed as having a pinched nerve, get an MRI! THere could be potential for serious nerve damage if you just try to self treat. If you have been diagnosed, then you could try physical therapy and stretching and strengthening exercises. Strengthening the muscles help to hold the vertebra where they are supposed to be and may take some of the pressure off the nerve. You really should be evaluated by a doctor before beginning any exercise regimen. Anti inflammatories may be helpful, however I don't think it will be helpful for nerve pain, only helpful for inflammation causing swelling to pinch the nerve. Aquatic (pool) therapy is helpful also. My boyfriend has spinal issues and just had a spinal fusion last sept. He found the aquatic therapy most helpful. And before he needed surgery he rode a bike regularly that he swore had reduced his pain and level of debilitation. Good Luck!
