A windows install usually takes an hour or so.
Remember, you have to configure drivers/ settings once installed, so probably two hours once you get everything installed and setup ready for use.

Most installs run in under an hour, but that is completely subject to processor, buss speed, RAM, HD speed, and CD/DVD speed.
After you install, don't forget to run Windows Update and get ALL of the updates available. That can take a couple of hours with broadband, or days with dialup.

At a rough guess I would say around 6 hours,,,
1 hour to install it
1 hour to upgrade to service pack 2
1 hour to sort out your hardware drivers
1 hour to download your hard ware drivers updates
1 hour to clean up the hard drive (defrag before installing software)
1 plus hours to install all your software then set up your internet
When I do a windows setup it can take me 8 plus hours to make sure all the hardware drivers are right and up to date all the software is working as it should,

the time it takes to install windows is dependent on the speed the processor runs at as well as how much memory you have it's usually in the region of 45min to 60min

it really doesn't have a lot to do with your ram, just how long the components take to install. It may help though to have the amount of ram you do, but don't expect it to take only minutes.
