You can try selling it 'for parts' on a site like Craig's List. List the make and model number, to avoid unnecessary phone calls.

If you're familiar with working on electronics, here's a site I found, when my mom's tv was acting up. Sounds like there's probably just some soldering needed. Maybe an appliance repair shop can fix it for very little cost.

Be very careful, though. I've heard that they store electricity after they're unplugged, and can severely shock you.

Telly V has a good answer to this. Bring the screen up slightly (on the flyback.) If you can still get a good pix without retrace lines or contrast washout, you may have some life left on the CRT. This is usually a sign of weak CRT emission. If pix is poor after this, put it out by the curb or in your dumpster.
