The New Testament speaks of the time when Jesus was born until after His death, resurrection and the early church after that, including future events to be read in Revelations. The Old Testament speaks of the history from Creation up to the birth of Christ. It spans over prob. a thousand years. The OT not only speaks of history but also about future events, pointing to Jesus. The NT often refers back to the OT, which just proves its authenticity but it's not a copy of the OT. It's like when I write a book and quote someone else in history.

Yeah. Here's what it is. The Old Testament is made up of many of the books that Jews use. The Old Testament is the creation story, the Laws they had to follow, tons of stories about Israel being stupid, and lots of prophecies. The New Testament begins with the birth of Jesus and covers his birth to the end of the world, or his second coming. The New Testament is filled with all the prophecies of the OT being fulfilled in the NT by Jesus or whoever they were about. Without the OT, the NT wouldn't exist, it wouldn't be possible. The OT is the foundation that the NT stands on. without the NT, there would be no salvation.

hope that helps!

Well for one thing, the content is completely different.

The Old Testament was written long before the New Testament.

The Old Testament focuses on the "Old Covenant", a deal that God made with Abraham.

The New Testament focuses on the "New Covenant", which fulfilled God's deal with Abraham and allowed for all of humanity to be saved from their sins.

The differences are simply too many to name.

In summary, the Old Testament lays the foundation for and was meant to prepare the Israelites for the coming of the Messiah who would sacrifice Himself for their sins (and for the sins of the world as well.) The New Testament shares the life of the Jesus Christ and then looks back on what He did and how we are to respond to His gift of eternal life and live our lives in gratitude for all He has done for us (Romans 12). Both testaments reveal the same holy, merciful, and righteous God who must condemn sin but desires to bring unto Himself a fallen human race of sinners through the forgiveness possible through Christ's atoning sacrifice as payment for sin. In both testaments God reveals Himself to us and how we are to come to Him through Jesus Christ. And in both testaments we find all we need for eternal life and godly living (2 Timothy 3:15-17).
