I am a Protestant who was raised in the Baptist church and have been a member of Baptist, Nazarene, Assembly of God and Non-denominational churches. None of these churches "required" baptism per se. Being baptized is encouraged if one is a Christian, but even Baptists (whose name derives from those who believe in being baptized) do not say that you MUST be baptized. To be baptized in protestant churches is to make a public declaration of your Christianity and to openly declare that you have accepted the gift of salvation from Christ Jesus and that you acknowledge that He has washed your sins away through His blood on the cross. It is a demonstration of your faith. While it is highly suggested and encouraged, nobody is ostracized or criticized for not being baptized. The focus in most Christian churches is not upon the traditions, rituals, and things that one does, but rather on the relationship one has with the Lord Jesus Christ.

To my knowledge, all religions require you to be baptized in order to join, however, many also believe that babies should not be baptized because they cannot personally accept Jesus as their savior. Some churches are split on the issue and will baptize both babies and adults. You should still be able to join any church you want (except catholic because their rules are so strict) because the church will most likely offer you baptism. About 2 years ago I witnessed an adult baptism. Don't worry about it, just find the right church for you and go from there!

Find a fellowship near you that is a bible believing spirit filled congregation.
As far as I am aware, all Christians should be baptized. However if you are concerned about joining a church fellowship because you haven't been baptized, don't be. It's best to know WHY you are stepping forward in your faith before you decide to get baptized anyway - and any Christian church will help you with this.
blessings :)

I am an evangelical christian (research evangelical free churches on google or something in your area) and we believe in the Bible and that's it. no silly traditions, no baby baptisms...just what the Bible says. No outside doctrines...just the Bible. the Bible is clear that baptism is not NECESSARY for salvation, but it is an outward action of an inward...belief? feeling? change? I was baptized catholic as a baby but that's the same as peeing on yourself...i was baptized at my Christian church when i was 17 i think...yeah =) woo hoo for me! i still would have gone to heaven if i hadn't been baptized tho.

It seems to me that you should be more concerned with the Salvation of your soul than the Traditions of any given religion. Salvation is given by the Grace of God through Faith and Faith follows from knowledge. There are many non-denominational churches and their numbers are growing daily. However, you should take it upon yourself to learn as much as you can about God before you decide where to attend church and fellowship. One caveat, stay away from any church that has the word “Community” as part of its name there is a lot of false teaching going on in those churches. Similarly, stay away form the Jehovah’s Wittiness and the Mormons. Although they purport to be Christian, they do not follow the core doctrine of Christianinty.

Catholics require baptism? i presumed they substituted sprinkling for baptism. The "branches" that don't require baptism are those that don't pass by skill of the Bible. examine Acts 2:38, 10:forty 8, and 19:5.

You can get a Baptist or Pentecostal Church to baptize you if you've accepted Jesus as your Savior. You can join every church in town, but if you don't know Jesus as your Savior those churches won't get you to heaven. You must believe and surrender your life to Jesus. Believe that He died on the cross for your sins, went to the grave and was resurrected on the third day. Bow your head, "Father, In Jesus' name, I ask that you come into my heart, forgive me of my sins, wash me and cleanse me of all my sins, I believe that you died for me and arose on the third day and you are in heaven preparing a place for me. Write my name in the Lamb's Book of Life so I can have eternal life with you. In Jesus' Holy Name I pray. Amen"

Baptism is only copying what Jesus did it is not required that you do so.It is your choice do it if you want to.If you believe in Jesus you will be saved.Be baptized in the holy spirit that is what comes after Jesus got baptized. That is the only way to wash away your sin water only cleans skin deep not sin deep.
