Tell them that you will take care of the dog yourself everyday. Make a proposal for them to see. Show them the time you are willing to contribute to spend time with your dog every day and how often will you bath and groom them. Write down the time you are going to spend with the dog every day and show them that having a dog will never resist your studies. Tell them you have to have a dog first to show to them you are responsible.
Are you using your money or their money to take care of YOUR dog? Are you sure you can take it to walk everyday, even when exam is coming?
If your parents are not willing to spend money on the dog, you can rescue those poor dogs in the animal shelter (they are all gurantees to be healthy), maybe they will say yes then, because maybe the reason they don' t want a dog is that they don't want to spend money buying a dog and find cheated by the pet store finally. Good luck!

I don't think you can make them.. Maybe that's part of the reason why they say no..
How about ' how do I convince my parents that I am mature and responsible enough to have a dog ' ??
Hey wait.. When my sister was about 4 she really wanted a kitten. My mom didn't want a cat or anything else. So my sister pretended to have an invisible cat, and would insist on feeding it, and making room for it on the couch, and making everyone kiss this invisible cat good night.. Finally my mom gave in and got her a cat and found that she actually kind of liked cats.. You could try that.. It was annoying enough that anyone would have bought her a cat.. Not sure how she came up with it tho :)

Like others said, you can't make your parents buy you a dog. The fact they are not just jumping in is a good thing. Why not start off smaller to let them know you can take care of a pet? Buy a goldfish or a Betta fish. Perhaps they will let you have a small bird? I started off with smaller critters when I was younger.
You can volunteer at your local shelter. That will allow you spend time with doggies for now :)

About the only thing I can think of is to show them that you are responsible in small things; such as keeping your room clean w/out asking you, and keeping up w/ school work, etc. Maybe you should start out w/ a smaller pet to show them if you are responsible enough to handle it. Hamsters, rabbits are a thought. I don't know your whole situation; therefore I am assuming that you don't own a pet of your own. If this is this scenario then the plan I proposed might work.
My grandchildren want a dog- but won't take care of their rabbits, therefore NO Dog. Get the picture?

They probably dont have the money for the dog...and if they do then they probably think that dogs are bad and hard to keep. My dog poops in the house occasionally and bites a lot and my parents didnt want to get one....go to like an animal shelter and look at the dogs....maybe your parents will find one that they like and let you get it....and promise that you will take care of it!

I am in the same situation! Ask your mom or dad why. Mine say Im not responsible. Wait until may when your birthday comes they say! We'll see what happpens! BUT if they say no it is no because I understand if the dog is treated badly by my family it will be unhappy and it is THEIR house!
OR........ Bring a rescue or a stray home! HeHe!!! They cant say no if they get attached to it! OR do V. work like I plan on doin when I get older you may not have a dog but you can still be around them. Or consider fostering a dog! That way if your parents like it you can permanently adopt it Or wait until u are old enough to get your own.

You have to be very responsible in all areas of your life. A dog is like a human in some ways, you have to feed it, bathe it, give it water - take it to the vet etc.(not to mention potty training which is very hard) So its no bird or cat or hamster. Please be aware of all the responsibilities that are involved.

if they say no it's for a good reason...
BUT if your bday is soon tell your parebts that it would be the best birthday present ever if you go to the shelter and pick out a dog.
( i am supposed to be getting one soon it worked for me)
