Can an auto expert recognize fom the damage caused by an accident whether it was two moving vehicles colliding or whether one was stationary and hit by an oncoming vehicle?

I can't answer for sure, but I would think they could. After seeing so many wrecks, they have a good idea of how things work. They may also check out the black box in the car, that will give them the last 7 seconds record of what happened before the air bags went off.

If your vehicle has air bags, it has a data recorder also, and yes, they can find out.
