Is it possible to save the cans for her that I bought in Idaho and send them to her to recylce in NY and her still be able to recieve the money for them? Im just not sure how all of this works or if there are any guidelines about that. Thanks for your input I appreciate it a ton!!

I dont think you can get money for recycling cans in Idaho.....and I'd crush them and send them priority flat rate boxes.

If she is just recycling, sure, but it would be easier to just send her the money you would spend on postage. It turns out that when I checked here

I learned
"Currently, there is a five-cent deposit on cans and bottles of carbonated beverages including beer and soda. When the original bottle bill was passed, bottled water and juice drinks were not included in the legislation and are still not subject to the deposit. In the last 25 years, ..."
That means their cans are marked with the state of sale and you can't do it.

Why not recycle them in Idaho and just send her the money? I used to recycle cans here in Maryland at a local scrap metal facility for money. When I moved, it was not worth the drive so I just recycle in the county collection instead. You can probably find a place in Idaho that you can take the cans to for recycling.

I'm not sure of the NY laws on that but where I am from its illegal to bring in cans from another province and recycle them here. The reason for that is the money paid for the recycled cans comes out of the government's pocket when they collect the deposit when you buy the can. When you import cans your not importing the deposit so the government is out of pocket. Your better off recycling the cans yourself in Idaho and sending her the money

Hope that helps

If you throw the cans in your Trash you don't get any money. If you collect them and go to the scrap buyer you will have to accept what he offers. It will cost you a lot to move the cans from Idaho to NY.

Why not you sell them locally and send the cash.

If NY has a deposit on the cans at the time of purchase, it is probably illegal to send cans from out of state. In my state, there is a few hundred dollar fine for doing that.

Yes; but the shipping costs will add up. Your better off just sending her cash $$$.
