No different from anyone else I am afraid, more out less in. I note from a recent University of California study that 2/3 people on diets end up gaining weight unfortunately.
You may be hampered by your medication as well, all diabetic drugs bar metformin cause weight gain, insulin being the worst.
Good luck, as you know it is very important for you to succeed.

RE:
How does a diabetic lose weight?
I would like to lose 20lbs and having a hard time doing so. I was diagnosed with type 2 a few months ago. I walk 2 miles everyday and yoga twice a week, trying to follow a low-carb diet. Nothing seems to be working, Any suggestions?

The same way others do. Sensibile diet and exercise. There are two forms of diabetes: type 1 (also called juvenile) and type 2 (adult onset). With type 2, losing weight can often eliminate the diabetic traits! With type 1, a good exercise program and proper eating habits are essential to good health.
The absolute best explanation of how foods work in your system (especially as related to diabetics) is in the book "Sugar Busters". High protein and complex carbs are the key.
No fast food, sugar, white bread or white pasta, potatoes (especially fried), and most corn products. A good breakfast (high in protein - and fat is ok - such as bacon or sausage) is essential.
Read the book and good luck.

Eat regularly like every 2-3 hours and do eat carbs but the unrefined ones like brown rice, brown bread, wholewheat pasta, but in moderation. Fibre is said to help diabetics and its found in fruits, veg, nuts, beans, cereals. You're doing very well with the excercise, maybe try eating 5 small meals every day (1 meal could be an apple and a banana or a handful of nuts). Oh, and oats are a very good breakfast - very low fat, they stabalise blood sugar levels (which is good for diabetics), and it is slow release energy and it has fibre. Keep it up you're doing well. Have your body fat measured, you may find you're losing fat but building muscle which weighs more than fat. (Are you looking slimmer?)

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

I lost 4 stones 3 years ago - and have kept it off - by eating a low carb diet. I know its contraversial but read Dr Atkins books. His diet is all about insulin levels, and if you understand what happens to your insulin, it makes you more motivated. My blood sugar has never been so stable, associated renal problems have gone, blood pressure lowered, cholesterol OK, in fact I`m in better health than I`ve ever been.
So, try it, all the people I know who`ve tried it and failed did not follow it as they should. I did and it worked and is still working. Does help that I love meat and fish though! Might be a problem if you dont!

I'm a type 2 as well. Have you seen a dietitian. The only way is diet and exercise. Low carb isn't really good. You need low glycaemic index carbs such as wholemeal bread. Refined carbs are not recommended. Also portion control is important along with a properly balanced diet. If you haven't already done so, see a dietitian.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/ZPtKr
A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.
