Christ means "anointed one" or "Messiah" It was not Jesus's last name.
So technically, the proper way to say it is "Jesus the Christ" meaning "Jesus the anointed one" or "Jesus the Messiah"
But Jesus Christ is in common usage.

To say "Jesus Christ" is to seem like Christ is his last name.
Christ is the Greek word for Messiah. The chosen one. The anointed one. Where we get the term Christened. Anointed.
So to say Jesus THE Christ is more appropriate. As Jesus is the Messiah.
But we are lazy. T H E is way too difficult to type.
Just wait til we get a bunch of Catholics on here who use the breviary daily. Then you get Christ Jesus.
People will REALLY be confused.

Jesus ( yeshua) was the Jewish Massiah christ is greek for masiah or anoynted one. Jesus was the Christ it is not part of his name
I find it quite offensive when I hear people say Jesus Christ as it has become more of a swear word. even in church I have spoken to my pastor about it I would much racther hear Jesus the massiah or the christ. pauls some times called him christ Jesus and some times JC but I prefer the massiah it was atital not part od his name.

In Jesus time they only had a first name and not a last name !!! The Christ simply means the Messiah. Actually Jesus Christ is improper !!!
One other salient fact is His real name is Yashua [I don't know how to spell it correctly, and neither does spell check]
