You need to go into a detox. Your experiencing withdrawal when you stop drinking, that's the shaking. Don't try to detox yourself! Alcohol is the only detox you can die from (alcoholic seizures).

Sounds like you need inpatient detoxification. It usually lasts about 3 weeks. Along with the detox is counseling. There are underlying reasons to why a person has an addiction to anything. You have to find out what that is. It may be a mental illness that you can get medication for and you don't know it. It is never too late to get help. The very first step you are admitting to already and that is the hardest for most people. I wish you the best and you can overcome this and be happy.

First off, you have to have a mindset to quit. Just like smoking. It seems you want to quit, so that is a very important step. Try counseling like AA and a personal psychologist. Also talk to your doctor. He could help in a big way. I understand what your going through. I was close to that point but weened away slowly. I drank a 12 pack of beer every day for 3 and a half years. I weened it down to just weekends and I am now currently there. I would like to quit drinking altogether myself. But for now I am happy with the accomplishment I made by slowing down alot. Another thing is to have your family and friends support you through all of this. It is very hard to do alone. Finally believe in yourself. The only person that can truly keep you sober is yourself. Keep all of this in mind and try it out. Hope it works for you. Good Luck!

Hey there
I am so sorry this is happening to you. I am really am. Go to your nearest hospital and tell them you need help with alcohol. Or you can call 411 and ask them for the nearest detox center.
You know what! Better yet...get your self to an AA meeting. If you don't know where your nearest meeting is...look it up on this website

Have an open mind and give another meeting a try-Awesome people that understand what you're going through and will give you personal advise on where to go. (because they are alcoholics too).

After detox, get to meetings reguarly and attend different meetings. And I promise you, your life will change drastically!

I just sobered up (I wasn't addicted yet) and by going to meetings and just having an open mind- my life has completely changed!
And I am loving being alive! Get the help that you need and deserve, start going to meetings and I guarantee you, your relationships will defenetly improve.

Good Luck

You need to look up an A.A. clinic near you as soon as possible and seek a professional's attention. If you get a craving simply tell yourself "i do not need this, and i won't let it control me." In order to avoid drinking any alcohol have water with you at all times and drink that instead when you get a craving.
Hopefully this will all work out for you, but find an A.A. meeting as soon as you can to prevent any further damage.
