Spring peepers are tiny frogs that sing really loudly in the spring. I wouldn't say that they "peep" -- really more like singing. In south central Illinois, the ditches get full of water in the spring rains and the spring peepers lay their eggs in such temporary wet places. It's one of the joys of spring to drive with the car windows down and hear them singing along the roadways.
