If I am walking with my man down the street I should be on the inside away from the street. This way he can "protect" me from any danger from the street or open side.

The *guy* should walk closest to the curb or street. And the *lady* should walk near the wall or side of the building!

Man should be on outside (closest to the street) to prevent the lady from getting dirty should a vehicle drive past and hit a puddle, etc.
