My husband just found out he has to get chemo treatment for three days and radiation for 10. My porblem is I have a 2 and a half year old and a 4 month old. I'm breastfeeding the 4 month old. And children are not aloud at the hospital in that unit. Where he is getting treatment is also not in the city we live in. So what do I do. I can't really leave my kids with my monther, she wouldn't be able to manage for the three days and I would have to quit breastfeeding. The kids are not aloud on that floor of the hospital. And I don't know people in the city where we got to go that can take off work to babysit. So should be with my husband or my kids

I'm trying to see if his mother can come out to the hospital she lives about 10 hours away from where his treatment is going to be but that is my favorite option. Having his mom be there for the chemo while I'm there for his radiation.

You should call the doctors office who is prescribing the treatment, and speak with the social worker or case manager, optimally a cancer navigator to find out the side effects of these treatments, and then speak with your husband concerning options. I would look into
1) if you go to church, seeing if there is a sister church that could a) watch the children while you drive in for a day to be with your husband, or b) someone in your church who could volunteer to stay with your husband...maybe a nurse? or a pastor, some churches have teams that visit with the sick...many would be more than happy to stay and support your husband
2) can your mother go to the hospital with your husband while you stay with the children? you may even be able to drive in and have her take the kids to the park while you spend the day with your husband.
3) if you do not go to church, look for a parish nurse program in your area, or contact the local church in your town for resources...most will help...and if the one you call does not call the next one...they will!
4) again consult with the social worker and cancer navigator at the clinic: they know the resources for the area where your husband will be staying....tell them these words..."I need some help here" you will be pleasantly surprised at the response...promise.
Good luck. You are in my prayers.

N0V-002 (novo-two) is a New adjunct medication used with standard chemotherapy

currently being tested for approval in the USA.

Increased the ability of patients to tolerate Chemo to the full 100%
Increased the Cancer Survival rate by 80%

They are accepting some patients under FDA Fast Track SPA Phase III in the USA.

See "Got the Script" message on this board, Novo Two is available outside US:

Novelos' pipeline of drugs is based on oxidized glutathione, a natural metabolite that is part of the glutathione pathway. This pathway is the primary determinant of intracellular redox (oxidation/reduction) potential and, as such, plays a key role in cell protection (e.g. detoxification) and in regulation of cell signaling pathways (e.g. leading to cytokine production). Novelos’ lead products are believed to act, in part, via post-translational modification (glutathionylation) of critical regulatory proteins that mediate processes including immune function, cell proliferation and tumor progression (in combination with chemotherapy). They may also sensitize tumor cells to certain chemotherapeutic drugs by modifying drug detoxification processes.
