I had fillings done almost a month ago and have had pain in one tooth ever since. My dentist said to give it a while to see if the pain went away. I told him that my bite didn't feel right..like the fillings were too high. I'm finally going to be able to go in and have my bite fixed. Do they have to give you numbing shots to fix a bite? Do they file it down? I've never had this problem before. Anyone know?? Thanks!

The Dentist will mark the bite and smooth down the part of the filling that is marking high, no freezing is necessary. It will not hurt, may be a little sensitive as you have been biting heavy on that part of the tooth. This is farely common, when you are frozen and the Dentist marks the bit you may be biting differently because of the freezing. Once the freezing comes out you are able to tell the difference. Go to the Dentist sooner then later because leaving a tooth high can lead to it dieing-its like a tiny hammer hitting the tooth any time you bite or bring your teeth together. A tiny problem that can have a big effect on the health of the tooth.

When the dentist has to fix your bite, they smooth/grind a little bit of the tooth filling off that is in pain.

tooth do not bruise, get a clean wellness care provider. She in all probability cracked your enamel (the crack may well be sufficiently small to not be considered on the x-ray) doing the fillings, get a 2nd opinion. Fillings shouldn't harm and would experience positive day after today. Your enamel/gum is clearly broken.

IF AN ADJUSTMENT NEEDS TO BE MADE TO YOUR BITE THEN THIS CAN BE DONE VERY QUICKLY AND W/O ANESTHETIC. YOU DON'T WANT TO GET NUMBED FOR A BITE ADJUSTMENT BECAUSE YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO FEEL HOW YOUR TEETH COME TOGETHER.
BEING ABLE TO FEEL ALL YOUR TEETH COME TOGETHER AT THE SAME TIME IS VERY IMPORTANT.
