Before the death and resurrection of Christ, the place where souls went was called paradise in some scriptures. This place had a gulf in between that separated those in torment and those who were at peace until the day of the Messiah (Luke Chapter 16). When Jesus was yet on the cross the place of paradise was still taking in souls.
Ephesians 4:8-10
8Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
Before going into heaven and taking his rightful place at the right hand of God, Jesus first descended into both sides of the gulf of paradise, preached the Gospel, and set free all those who believed and placed them in heaven. So Jesus was telling the truth when he told the thief that he'd be in paradise in the same day as Himself. He would take Him there and if he believed Gospel, which I can only fathom that he did, he would go to heaven. So Jesus didn't lay in the tomb those three days. He was continuing his redemptive work in paradise, which by the way no longer exists (there is only heaven and the place of torment/ultimately hell).

Jesus was not lying. Jesus' Body was in the tomb for three days but His soul went up to heaven. As God, Jesus lives in heaven so when Jesus died on the cross, heaven's "gates" or the way to heaven was opened to men and women. Jesus brought all the people who were good but died before His crucifixion to heaven , which is why we call it Good Friday. This is why we call the crucifixion the triumph of the Holy Cross.

Jesus is not a liar....you are ignorant of the facts. At that point in time paradise was located inside the earth in Hades which was divided into two primary parts as seen in Luke 16. The righteous went to the side called paradise orAbraham's bosom the unrighteous went to Gehenna (hell). Some argue that the word "today" is not the timing of where the thief would be, but when Jesus was saying it to him. While we can it pick over words, the meaning is obvious in the context of the statement. He would be with Jesus, where did Jesus go that day? Paradise.

a.) I tell you today, You will be with me in Paradise.
b.) I tell you, today You will be with me in Paradise.
Whats the difference? The comma. Most bible translation has the same as letter b.
Obviously the correct sentence is letter a...as you stated, Jesus was in the tomb for 3 days, and also Paradise earth does not exist yet...Jesus did not say in heaven so the hope of the thief is the earthly paradise not heaven. (Yes, there are two hopes for mankind...one for those in heaven, one for those on earth). (John 3:4-8, Psalm 37:9-11, Matthew 5:5)
So Jesus was telling that thief at that day, he 'will' be in Paradise. He was not taking him in paradise that day.

you at the instant are not thinking that he actually rose from the grave, are you? because of the fact He did no longer. Christians place each and all of the emphasis on 'the physique' because of the fact of what Jesus pronounced on the final Supper, yet He understood that the physique is insignificant; as He died, He provided up His spirit. faith is approximately spirit because of the fact at some point all else will fall away. Christianity is supposedly an Abrahamic faith, the custom it maximum resembles is Roman Paganism, a faith the place Gods are adult men and adult men (emperors) become gods. additionally, the tale of a god nailed to a tree and who's later resurrected is a eu delusion the predates Christianity.this is hardly extraordinary the Christianity succeeded in Europe.

Read the whole verse.
He said, I say to you today you shall be with me in paradise. Not meaning at that very moment or that day, but that he would - eventually.
*And no where did I say Jesus is God. Jesus is the SON OF GOD, God sent him and Jesus willingly preached and gave of himself for us.

Paradise biblically corresponds with what is known as "Abraham's bosom." The Bible further records that He descended into sheol (the grave) and preached to the captives. You correctly point out that His body lay dead - this does not preclude His spirit and the spirit of the thief from being in paradise. After he rose, paradise, (the holding place of the righteous dead prior to the crucicifixion) was caught up to God.
Hope this clears things up.

Jesus is not a liar- if you believe in the holy Trinity- he is Jesus and that he is also God the Father- than the Thief on the Cross would be with him in paradise that day.

Eternity is outside of time. In effect, all time in eternity is "now". As soon as the thief left this life, and entered the life outside of time, he was in the eternal Now. In that eternal Now, Jesus is always present. We have a hard time thinking about this, because we live in time, in which each separate now flits past and makes way for the next in an ever-changing movement. When I'm not really thinking carefully, I sometimes think that the time Jesus spent on earth was like a little piece of time taken out of his whole lifetime in eternity, which is ridiculous when I do actually pause to think about it. Jesus's earthly life co-existed with his eternal life, not breaking the endless Now of eternity, but focusing it in one particular bit of time. The "today" which he would share with the thief was an eternal Today, not the brief passing today they both spent dying on their crosses.
