Why can't human beings climb like apes do? Or run like cheetahs? Or swim like dolphins?
All beings have evolved to survive. Humans have evolved in ways that has helped us survive; so have other species.
Besides, does it really need to be an either/or? Couldn't God have, in His infinite wisdom, created all species with an ability to adapt over time? And then, just as He predicted, we all did? Makes sense to me.

All the evidence, the observations and the experiments support Evolution. The theory makes predictions which have been discovered to be correct. It is a robust theory and one of the strongest scientific theories around.
Evolution is the change in organisms over time. That's it. It is not abiogenesis, the big bang, the steady state hypothesis, panspermia or any other hypothesis about origins. Evolution kicks in after life has appeared on the planet and, over the last 3.5 billion years, is responsible for all the two or three million different species alive today and the billion or so species that have become extinct along the way. No other hypothesis comes close, certainly not creation. Why would a god create a world and all the species on it then kill off 99.9% of them?
The species that are alive today have all evolved as far as they can to this point, they are still evolving. When humans join the pile of extinctions, which will be long before the Sun destroys the earth in about 5 billion years, another species might become the intelligent life form of the planet. It might happen a few times. There is nothing special about us.

1) We did not evolve from a "pile of goo" - that's creationist nonsense.
2) Evolution has no goal. Life evolves due to the need to adapt to survive the environment. It just so happens that our species developed higher brain functions and generally good dexterity to deal with the things the world had to throw at it.
3) Other creatures are better at things than us. We are not as dexterous as other primates, we don't have the capacity for echo location that bats and marine mammals have, we can't even biosynth our own vitamin C like the majority of the animal kingdom can. We may be the current height of evolution when it comes to higher brain functions but we fail at many other things.
4) History shows that our ancestors lived alongside neanderthals, similar but not the same species but they died out. It is likely, given the evidence, that out ancestors killed them off. Just goes to show how happy we are to share the world.

other than the most powerful brains, are humans really the most evolved? other animals are faster, stronger, sharper senses, longer lived than we are. I've read that human brain has twice as main braincells as other primates, because of a mutation that has the cells divide one extra time before stopping. This mutation was successfully transmitted. That is what makes us different than all other animals that came before us. ETA, I can't find this online, so it just might be a hypothesis. Neurobiology, genetic evolution and genetics are the hottest areas of scientific research going on right now. It's all so new, with so much to discover about brain evolution and operation. I urge you to keep up to date with this area of research, it's very exciting, whether you believe god had a hand in it or not.
And we are still evolving, so in 10000 years, or 100000 years (assuming we don't kill ourselves or get raptured) we'll be further along evolved to something else. Actually, through science, we'll be custom evolving ourselves through genetic manipulation within the next generation or two. (transhumanism)

From your know-it-all book:
- Why is the sky blue.
- How is steel made?
- Where does natural gas come from?
- What causes tides?
- What causes waxing & waning of the moon?
You sound like naive egocentric children, who believe the perfect universe created only for you and want spoon fed easy answers to everything. Grow up! or stick to your fairytales and leave the true knowledge gathering to the adults. My favorite fairy tale creation story: "A big black stork hatched the Earth out of a giant egg. And it still watches over, protecting us under its giant wing at night. In the day it flies away to gather food."

You are working under a false assumption. Humans are not further evolved than anything else, as all things currently alive are equally as modern. Humans occupy their niche quite well, as do other animals [and bacteria, and plants, etc.]. There are no levels of the proficiency of life, there is either surviving, or not surviving.
I thought we went beyond the ladder theory of Aristotle...
Humans are also an invasive species [like rabbits in Australia], so they do cause extinction of other animals. Truthfully, while you may think that the human is the best animal, that is a bias. Beetles out number humans, and biological success is based on how a species can reliably generate offspring, and survive. As you know, if nuclear war busts out, Cokroaches will survive.
I need to know, with that argument just posted, have you ever been to a learning institution? Not to be mean, but that was a pretty weak argument.

In evolution, there are no levels. They all just evolve according to their environment. It has only been recently that an animal (humans) have developed unprecedented intelligence. Other animals have had forms of advanced intelligence for some time now. Several animals are aware of themselves, a sign of heightened intelligence.
Also, it isn't that unbelievable that life started from a pile of goo. Especially since scientists have created life from a pile of goo.

To answer "shouldn't another animal race have evolved to atleast a similar level as humans?", the answer is:
Obviously not, because none has.
Evolution is fact. Creationism is fiction.

ah, the young and the ignorant...you are probably both.
Evolution does not "stop" nor does it have ranks. Ever wonder why a type of cockroach is the only species that can survive a nuclear blast? No "levels" pal, no such thing as "evolving as far as."
Riku is quite stupid unfortunately. He asks evolution to explain physics questions. How sad. The origin of the universe has nothing to do with the subject of biology. A math theorem does not need to explain French grammar; that is essentially what he wants.

You just asked, "Why is it now, now?"
The fact that we are the first to develop technology means nothing except that it has allowed people to ask truly stupid questions on Y!A for a little over a year. An important concept is niche. There really aren't niches for two technological species. Let's say dolphins are smarter than humans -- they still can't make fire because they don't have hands and live in the water.

Here we go again. Lord be with me whilst I evolve this answer. Evolve means change. People came from lower forms of man to where we are today. People were hairy in cold areas. Creation is not excluded from possibility-our creator, created the earth, sky sun stars oceans rivers, animals, birds et et. DNA of every species on earth limits its potential
