The number was a very round one, pulled out of the Book of Revelation. Actually the number was "1000", but nothing happened that year, so the assumption was made that maybe it was a different "thousand". Millenialists tend to look for any temporal hooks they can find. The years 666 and 1666 were also popular years for armageddon fans.

Mt 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Mt 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
Re 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
According to the word of God nobody knows the hour or day Jesus shall return. So we must live our lives as if He was coming today.

I would venture to guess that just about everything written in the bible was pulled out of SOMEONE's rectum at some point in time.

The book of Daniel gave a chronology as to when Jesus would 'come back'...Jesus also gave signs of his 'coming back.'
To above answerer: Jesus actually knew when would he be 'coming back,' as he is very well informed about the Hebrew scriptures (book of Daniel included). What he did not know is the 'end.' That is which only God the Father knows.

The Scriptures state that "no man knoweth" the time of his coming. SO, that figure of 2000 years is pure speculation and not based on any Biblical reference.

I haven't heard of this before. However, no one knows when Jesus is returning. The Bible is clear in it's teachings on this topic. So, be ready ... it could be tonight or this sec.
