In most cases no. However if you have not gone in a long time and the recomend a deep cleaning they may give you one for comfort so that you are not in pain when they go below the gum line. The injections for novicane are not that bad, however just try not to bite your dentist (I have this problem because its an auto-reflex I ask them for something to put in my mouth so that I dont bite down by accident).

No they do not give you an injection to clean your teeth. If they give you an injection when you get your teeth cleaned every 6 months then consider changing dentists. I have never had an injection when my teeth were cleaned every 6 months.

Worry not! The answer is no; not for simple cleaning.

If you're getting fillings or need a tooth pulled, yes, but not for a simple cleaning.
