I've been humbled by the courage of many here. Some were once homeless. There are several homosexual people that have been very honest about their struggle to be accepted by family and society. One friend talked about losing her child and I think of her every single day and what that would be like. I've been impressed with how brave so many people are - but in day-to-day dealings with them, you'd never know what they've been through. I think it helps me to remember to be tolerant.

Quite a lot! I have especially learned lots about Judaism, Islam, and Mormonism. Sometimes I won't comment at all, just watch a question and answer exchange and follow links. I like to learn. I have also learned about other ways to practice Paganism, and about the diversity of thought in the atheist and Christian communities. I have learned that some people want to think of the discussion as a fight with very narrowly-defined opposing teams, but it won't entirely happen. We're too varied for that.

I have learned that there are a lot of hateful, ignorant and bigoted people in this world. Either their parents did not teach them to respect other people or they have forgotten the true meaning of their religion, which is tolerance and love for others and God.

yes I have learned that before answering a question (especially about my religion : Islam) I need to look up the facts and avoid answering the question based on my opinions. I represent my faith, and I want to correctly represent it. I would hate to think I turned somebody away from Islam because of an incorrect responce.

I've learned much about other religions. I've become more open-minded. I learned what an agnostic is (I didn't know before). I cleared misconceptions about atheists and I learned how to spell atheist :D
And I've learned not to judge

while i have picked up a few useful tidbits about other religions, ive learned that there are a lot of people who arent nearly as tolerent of other religions as they should be. everyone is entitled to their own opinion and all that, but when your opinion does nothing but offend those around you and insult people of other religions, its possible your opinion should be kept to yourself

Fundamentalists are more cruel than I ever imagined...I guess the whole anonimity thing...
I have learned because of that...your faith has to be in God...not in people...people will fail you...people will beat you over the head with their preconceived notions ideas and beliefs...and put God on a shelf.
