kay so last year was my first year filing taxes and so my mom did it for me on turbo tax... Everything went good, got my return direclty deposited and that was that... My mom said to me that I was supose to have sent my w-2 to the irs last year... BUT I DIDNT... She said I shouldnt have recieved my return if I didnt send them in... Is this true?
This year I did it on my own or tried to at least. When I went to file it online and send it out paying with credit card... It says that I need my AGI from last year... to confirm who I am so I can do an electronic signature... How do I find that out? I dont have or dont know where my w-2? forms are from last year... My mom wouldnt know... And turbo tax doesnt have it.... or they would have transfered it over... So what do I do... Do I need to find my forms from last year and send them in with this years? Or do they NOT correspond with each other at all??? Im so confused... So this is why so many ppl hate tax season? lol Please help me out

Did you e-file with turbotax? If so, when you entered your w2 data, it transmitted it with your form.

If you did not e-file, doesn't turbotax print out a legal w2 anyway which you could have included?

No, don't send in last year's forms with this year's return or you'll just confuse things. To get your AGI, you need a copy of last year's tax return, not your W-2's, although if your return is very simple, those numbers might be the same.

If the IRS didn't notify you, then they probably didn't notice that you didn't mail in your W-2's. They don't hold up sending your refund until they get them - and as long as everything checked out OK, they probably don't care, although you ARE supposed to send them in.

Employers are REQUIRED to have W-2s interior the mail through Jan thirty first. they do no longer look to be considered late until Feb fifteenth. If he does not have it through Feb fifteenth, then he calls the IRS and information a suited lacking W-2 report. it incredibly is in many situations sufficient to shake them loose from an corporation who's enjoying stupid little video games. until he worked for a tiny "mom and dad" employer, whomever he stated to isn't vulnerable to have any impact over the payroll branch to purpose and postpone his W-2. If he does not have it through Jan thirty first or so, he could desire to call the payroll branch directly and ask approximately it.
