This may sound like a stupid question (and it probably is!) but people have varying opinions on what is alive and what isn't.

Acording to Scripture, there are many forms of life. I will presume U want to perhaps "Trap" someone in an answer for some purpose??? The wart on Ur nose is life. So is the pond slime & Ur pet monkey too! But if U want a definition of Human Life that's different. Human life was created by God first when he made Adam. After forming Adam God blew into his "Nostrils" the "Nuchshamah" (hebrew) for "Breath of Life" and simultaniously Imparted Soul Life to him. So here we go off on the tangent of those rebelious peoples who say that there is Life in the womb!!!! Yes, but NOT HUMAN OR SOUL LIFE!!!!! The life in the womb is a growth without activation from God!!!!! If,and it's not, there was a "Soul" imputed by God & during birth the fetus dies what would be the purpose of the imputation??? Do U really think God would entrust Mankind with the Creation of Souls??? Certainly the fetus could not have the opportunity to participate in the Angelic Conflict??? There is Human & Soul Life ONLY when the Fetus emerges from the womb & takes its' first breath given by God along with its' Soul Life. When a child is born of God that child also receives from its' Biological Father, Original Sin! The child is not held accountable for this until it grows old enough to understand what sin & salvation & Gods plan is all about. If they should die before this they are taken to Heaven. Does this make Abortion an acceptable form of Birth Control??? NO!!! Too many People should never become parents as they are uncontrolable & not responsible having given themselves to the world of pleasure instead of dedicating their lives to God. If you have any other views, I suggest you take it up with Scripture!!! John

Alive...the 'great I' (read, ego) has apprehended the sine qua non of reality; which is: There is a God and it isn't Me...LOL

Once this has occured the 'walls of denial and self delusion of the ego' come down; and the person has made a connection with God. Now, his/her task is to broaden, deepen and evolve that connection. Anything less, amounts to "let the dead bury their dead".

The Word of God, look at Hebrews and see alive.

I'm not in the obituaries, and I still have a pulse. Other than that, with all this madness going on about changing my major in college at my academic advisor's advice, I'm just existing at this point.

7 signs of life:
Movement
Respiration
Sensitivity
Nutrition
Excretion
Reproduction
Growth

Anything that performs these 7 functions is alive. (OK I admit, viruses are a tricky one, but I would also class them as being alive)

To be alive is to be able to actively participate, grow, and/or learn in your current environment or realm of existence.

If it breathes, eats & grows.
That includes plants & fungi, (does fungus breathe ? & now that's a stupid question, I'm sure it must, everything breathes)

Oh and germs, germs are alive too.

Capable of self-duplication and of the consumption of energy from the environment for the purpose of overcoming entropy.

Anything more is detail.

If it can sustain itself and it can replicate, there ya' go.
