I was reading someone else's question and someone actually said this. It's absolutely insane is what it is!
Clearly, this person is either mentally challenged or a liar of the first order.
Behemoth is described as having "stones" and a "navel". Now like all other reptiles, dinosaurs don't have stones, they wear thier reproductive organs on the inside. As for the navel, dinos are hatched from eggs, no navel required.
Clearly, according you YOUR book of mythology, Behemoth is an Elephant. Case closed on that guy.
As for Leviathan, clearly the description in Job is of a Crocodile. Anyone can see that.
Case closed on that guy too.
And case closed on any asinine idea that hominids and dinosaurs co-existed. There isn't a single, solitary shred of credible evidence to support that so-called "theory".
(and no the Paluxy tracks and other such frauds don't count. Remember I did say CREDIBLE evidence.)

yabro,
remember what I said about CREDIBLE evidence? Clearly answeringgenesis.com is a joke. Even to die-hard creationists.

I haven't heard about the Hippo theory.
Interesting.
I'm more than willing to concede that point.
As for Leviathan being a whale, it's described as scales and claws. Also it's described as having teeth "all around". Just like most predators.

gsshult,
You do realize that in the abscence of evidence, scientists do NOT make assumptions right?
I'm talking about the REAL world here with REAL evidence. Not mythology.

Oh heavens, I thought that was only my mother in law. In every book or commentary I've ever read, Behemoth was explained as a hippotamus and leviathan a crocodile. I didn't know anyone else out there was that crazy.

Absolutely, Leviathan and Behemoth were both dinosaurs of some kind. And Leviathan is also mentioned in other places. Psa 74:14 Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness. Psa 104:26 There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein. Isa 27:1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea. If you believe what the Bible says then you must believe the first chapters of Genesis...

From what I recall from both the bible and most classical literature, a behemoth ususally refers to an elephant and a leviathan is usually a whale. Crocodiles are generally just refered to as "crocodiles".
No, mammals and dinosaurs did not coexist. Yes, there is "credible" evidence. It's called carbon-dating of fossils.

No, I don't. I've always believed that Behemoth was a hippopotamus and Leviathan was a crocodile.
The dinosaurs were most likely created during the fifth creative "day." (Not a 24-hour day. Probably thousands of years or more long.) And they died out sometime during the sixth, before the creation of man.
Human fossils occur in rock layers well above those containing dinosaur fossils and there are rock layers in between. In many parts of the world, these intervening rock layers, or strata, also contain fossils. Many new varieties, or kinds, of animals appear in these layers, such as elephants, saber-toothed cats, and several varieties of flightless running birds. This would strongly suggest that God was still creating new animals after the dinosaurs were gone and that the dinosaurs disappeared during the sixth creative epoch.

Why do you associate these things with Christians as a whole? People who try to create some sort of explanation for every single object or being in the Bible are called Fundamentalists, and they actually represent a minority among Christians... they just happen to be a very loud minority.
Ask them, you might get better answers. But no, of course the Behemoth and Leviathan weren't dinosaurs. I doubt if they exist as anything other than legend, but that isn't their purpose. They exist as part of the larger story, the one that actually has meaning beyond the literal which so many seem to get stuck on, theist and atheist alike.

check out this site:

i strongly believe everything in that site to be true. I have also done multiple oter researches on this specific topic and i have written multiple research papers on this subject. i'm sorry if i might offend you, but you have stongly offended me by indirectly calling me mentally challenged and stating that my life's guidebook, the Bible, is a 'book of mythology'. if your goal here was to change people's opinions about what they believe, calling them liars was not the way to go about it. However, i feel you are just venting your thoughts. And there is lots of proof that hominids and dinosaurs co-existed. i suggest you do some more research. there is lots more evidence and proof i could show you, but i feel it would be a waste of my time. have a nice day!

No. Behemoths are hippopotamus, Leviathans are crocodiles.
Behemoth
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Job%2040:15-24;&version=9;
---
Behemoth climbs out of the river to feast on “green grass.” Why, the greenery of an entire mountain seems necessary to sustain it! Some 200 to 400 pounds [90-180 kg] of vegetation go into its stomach every day. Its appetite satisfied, Behemoth lies under lotus trees or in the shade of poplars. If the river it lives in overflows, the hippo can keep its head above water and swim against a deluge. Confronted with Behemoth’s mammoth mouth and formidable tusks, Job would not have the audacity to pierce its nose with a hook.
-----
Leviathan
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Job%2041:1-34;&version=9;
The Hebrew word denotes “a wreathed animal”—apparently the crocodile. Could Job make Leviathan a plaything for children? Definitely not! Encounters with this creature have repeatedly proved that it is dangerous. Indeed, if a man were to lay a hand on Leviathan, the struggle would likely be so great that he would never do that again!
As Leviathan lifts its head above water at sunrise, its eyes flash “like the beams of dawn.” Leviathan’s scales are tightly closed, and embedded in its hide are bony plates hard to pierce with bullets, much less with swords and spears. Sharp scales on a crocodile’s belly leave the impression of “a threshing instrument” on mud banks. Its fury in water stirs up a froth like foaming ointment. And because of its size, armor, and weapons—a threatening mouth and powerful tail—Leviathan knows no fear.
---
The bible shows some dinosaurs (and pterosaurs) may indeed have been created in the fifth era listed in Genesis, when the Bible says that God made “flying creatures” and “great sea monsters.” Perhaps other types of dinosaurs were created in the sixth epoch. The vast array of dinosaurs with their huge appetites would have been appropriate considering the abundant vegetation that evidently existed in their time.—Genesis 1:20-24.
The bible does not say when and how they got extinct but they surely did. The rock layers containing human fossils consistently occur above those layers containing dinosaur fossils. Because of this, scientists generally conclude that humans came on the earthly scene later. Dinosaurs existed before man---

"Now like all other reptiles, dinosaurs don't have stones"
Where is the evidence that dinosaurs are related to reptiles???
Consider this..
The question is often asked, “If dinosaurs are so important, why doesn’t the Bible mention them?” There are several ways to respond to such an inquiry. First, the word “dinosaur” wasn’t invented until 1842, while the Bible was translated into English much earlier. One hardly would expect to find a word in a book which preceded the word’s invention by several centuries! Second, it should be noted that numerous organisms are not mentioned by name in the Bible, yet such an omission does not cast doubt on their creation or existence. The Bible does not mention cats, kangaroos, or bacteria. Yet, just like the things that are mentioned by name, it is obvious that these things were created by God. While the Bible speaks accurately on all topics with which it deals, it was not intended to be a taxonomy textbook. The purpose of the book of Genesis, for example, was not to catalog every organism that ever lived, but to present a broad yet accurate summary of historical events which actually occurred during the creation week. Third, while the word “dinosaur(s)” is not mentioned in the Bible, there is compelling evidence that dinosaurs, and dinosaur-like creatures, are described, directly or indirectly, in God’s Word. Among the passages which may be considered are Job 40:15-24 and Job 41:1-34.
The passage containing the most serious implications in this matter, however, is Exodus 20:11. By announcing: “For in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is...,” the Bible makes it clear that the entirety of God’s earthly creation was brought into existence during those six days. The apostle John added that “all things were made by Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:3). If God created the Earth, the heavens, the seas, and everything in them in six days, what does that omit? It omits absolutely nothing! Add to that the statements found in Genesis 1:31 and 2:1, and the case is strengthened considerably. In Genesis 1:31, as He surveyed everything He had made, God proclaimed it “very good”—the Hebrew phrase representing completion and perfection. In Genesis 2:1, He then stated that the creation was “finished,” indicating an action once and for all completed, not continuing into the future.
The information thus presented may be summarized as follows: (a) God created everything in six days; (b) that creation was complete and perfect; and (c) the creation was finished. The implications of this teaching are clear. According to the Genesis record, no animals were created before day five, at which time God created sea-dwelling creatures and birds (Genesis 1:20-23). On day six (Genesis 1:24-25), God created the “creeping things” and “beasts of the earth”—descriptions that certainly would include dinosaurs. Since man likewise was created on day six (Genesis 1:26-27), the inescapable conclusion is that men and dinosaurs lived on the Earth as contemporaries.
Through the years, attempts have been made to introduce into the biblical record the idea of an ancient Earth so that evolutionary concepts (such as the separation of men and dinosaurs by millions of years) could be made acceptable to Bible believers. These attempts (generally known as the Day-Age Theory and the Gap Theory) have failed, because the premises upon which they were developed were false. We have examined and refuted each of these elsewhere (Thompson, 1982a; 1982b). While the conclusion that men and dinosaurs coinhabited the Earth is at odds with current evolutionary thought, it is the only conclusion that respects the Bible’s inspiration. It therefore is the position that we defend, and that we advocate be taught to our children.

To be honest I haven't given it much thought. There seems to be a lot of talk of dragons in Chinese heritage. Is there some reason why the animals they considered to be dragon couldn't be dinosaurs? Afterall, the word "dinosaur" is a fairly new term.
Are you saying that they didn't co-exist on Earth or that they didn't co-exist in the same localized area?
I ask because by one standard I don't co-exist with polar bears, but by the other I do.

well you dont have real evidence that they did't coexist either. but a thought provoking argument either way. but did you hear about the trex red blood cells. aparently fossilization takes even longer to fossilize than first thought. and then you can talk about mamoths that are frozen and animals still can eat the meat. this part doesnt work as when a animal is slow frozen ice crystals break the cell wall and cause the meat to deteriorate very quickly. so with those combined how fast did the plains mamoths freeze and how long does it actually take to fossilize a animal.
