Yes, a human instinct to do wrong. Like have sex with another mans wife or steal from your boss.

Innocence knows no sin. So, it isn't instinct. It is only the organized Christian and Muslim Churches that make sure every one they can approach that sins exist and then start listing them. Most "sins" hurt no one, but do offer the church power over the person who commits a sin on the churches list in thought or action.

The Polynesians had no Sin or STD until European Christians came to their island. The same is true of almost all the Southern Oceans' Islands.

Instinct to me, is a mechanism in the human body. It's like a boxer. Once he's learned the basics of fighting, it becomes natural. And in the ring, he's allowed to throw a punch without thinking. (Instinct.) A natural reaction. Sin, on the other hand, is when we know something we are about to indulge in is wrong, but we just do it, without thinking of the repercussions. (Common sense is you'll deal with it when the problem arises.) You know the intention is not right to you, but you choose to walk into every bomb possible. (Murphy's Law: What can go wrong, will go wrong.)

No. There are a lot of 'instincts' that are not sins.
Breathing for example.
A baby suckling its mother's breast as another.

Neither is a sin.

There are also sins that are not necessarily instincts. Many people go through life never killing another person.

So it may seem.

I think it's more a way to say "Oh, dear, you can't do that. It's too icky"
