I'm in a small band that plays original material in local bars, occasionally doing the out-of-town show. We rarely break even let alone make money.

What would be involved in playing a gig across the border in the Toronto area for fun?

Do we need passports or work permits or anything crazy?

You will need to get a work permit in order to work in Canada, even if it's just one gig, even if you end up losing money on the endeavor. The whole idea is that you ARE doing work within the border of Canada.

The kind of work permit you need, you may very well be able to get AT the border as you go through ... but contact Canada Customs first before you try so there are no surprises. Just call one of the Canada Border stations and ask them, they will be able to tell you.

If traveling by land, you will not need passports, but you will need photo I.D. and proof of citizenship. Also, make a list of all the equipment you are taking with you over the border, including serial numbers, this will help you avoid some huge hassles. You may want to stop on the American side and have it stamped first, to prove that it originated in the U.S.

Hubby and I routinely cross border with guitars, amps, sound processors, laptops, cameras and associated cords and equipment, and have made it a habit to do this, it saves tons of headaches.

i am going to probably be slammed for this, yet i think the favor to protect this movie. i rather loved it. that's campy yet rather relaxing. It became also interesting to work out all of those different large artists making a music songs initially sung by using the Beatles. I frequently don't like songs being re-made yet this movie became a uncommon exception. i imagine quite some Beatles followers had an situation with it because they couldn't separate both factions. i don't think of the movie became ever meant to be something yet a tribute to the Beatles. It became campy yet in a sturdy way. the picture of the Monkey's television practice became campy. I also imagine element of the reason the screenplay became written the way it became is the time-body in which it became made. It became meant to be somewhat tripy. only as Tommy became tripy only in a very extreme way. asserting all of this in case you only take a seat to observe it with none preconceived notions of what it "might want to" be then i imagine you'll savour it.

I'm pretty sure you'd only need a passport (if you were flying) driving you could just show regular ID, for now..
