Because "God" didn't write them at all. The so-called sacred texts were written and rewritten by men over several centuries, crossing cultural divides, including cultural differences, and just plain making mistakes in translation. Much of the Bible has been so revised from the earlier writings that is it hard to say what way really meant. Whole chapters were left out because they went against current thinking. The Bible is very much a work of myth and legends crafted together over many generations to form some kind of moral story, though I'm not quite sure what that story is, since the whole thing doesn't make much sense to me.

Ha. Depending on the lawyer it might have turned out even more ambiguous - if that's even possible.

God said to Adam "Do not eat the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the day that you eat thereof you will die."

Don't eat the fruit from that tree over there, you see it? Yes that one... you can't get any clearer than that, and yet Adam and Eve ate it anyway.

You see the problem isn't that God cannot express himself clearly, the problem is that people don't want to hear and obey what God has to say.

They are only ambiguous to the limited and finite mind. As you seek God, he leads you into an understanding that cannot be understood by the human mind.

You've apparently never read a legal document. Try getting a lawyer to tell you how to tie your shoes. They can confuse anyone.
