Gui said to Chaos; There is no judgment for those who believe

and quoted John 5 but not all

“For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son…. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me (or the Father), hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. …. for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice. And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation”

Is salvation based on belief and if so why? Why does the Lord speak about those who have done good and those who have evil? Why would it matter?

True faith is accepting the atonement and those who repent and accept the atonement are saved by faith. Why speak of the righteous and the unrighteous?..none are good but God and those who accept his atonement are brought to his righteousness. It is by faith we say we are made new. He who endures to the end is saved.

Yes, and there is judgment for all ..Doing Gods will which comes with belief and relationship with the triune God , Father Son and Holy Spirit is the key to salvation ,, Some who think works or good deeds not willed by God for that persons life could lead to damnation....

The religious pleaded his case" but lord we cast out demons and healed the sick" and whatever else he pleaded with and God said Sorry I never knew you! Don't remember where that is in the new testament but if you search you will find it.. There are some fine lines drawn ... That's why we must pray thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven..Seeking his will is most important and being obedient...In my experience God's will is somewhat uncomfortable and looks odd to others, but it produces noble characterat some point....Fit for the kingdom of God !

Amen

and this is what John 3 says

Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God… For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life…. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

But why?

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

So once again it is our deeds which are being judged!

Salvation is based on belief and faith. He speaks of them both so we know if we are doing right or wrong. Those who do right will someday live forever in Heaven. Those who do wrong will be eternally lost. Matthew 7:21-23 says, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Notice these are not "bad" people, they're doing a lot of good. They have rationalized their deeds and while not doing wrong, they also did not do the will of the Father, and being deceived, they are lost.
First Joh 2:1 says, "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."

We need to have faith, but we also need to be in obedience to the will of God. What is that? It's everything that God asks us to do through His Holy Word, the Bible.

We are saved by grace, not by works, so that no one can boast.
We are saved by grace alone. Recall that in Acts 16:31 the jailer asked Paul and Silas how to be saved. They responded, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved." The jailer believed and immediately became saved.
Close to 200 times in the New Testament salvation is said to be by faith alone - with no works in sight. Consider the following:
John 3:15 tells us that "everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."
John 5:24 says, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my words and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."
In John 11:25 Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies."
John 23:46 says, "I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness."
John 20:31 says, "But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."
If salvation were not by faith alone, then Jesus' message in the Gospel of John - manifest in the above quotations - would be deceptive, stating that there is one condition for salvation when there are allegedly two - faith and works.
I must emphasize that we are saved by faith for works. Works are not the condition of our salvation, but a consequence of it We are saved not by works, but by the kind of faith that produces works.

Eph 2:8-10 God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this: It is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Salvation is based on a persons belief that Jesus is the son of God, that he died on the cross, and was resurected that sin and death was defeated. Salvation occurs when a person confesses their sin, and accepts Christ into their heart. Each individual must choose to believe and recieve the gift of salvation from God or reject God and thus choose eternal damnation.

Salvation is the act of being saved. It is required to even enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Since ALL men have fallen short of the instruction of God, and as only one man has lived on this earth sinless, God's gift of a savior (Jesus Christ) provides for us to achieve salvation by accepting Jesus' gift of salvation.

Judgment is different. All, even the saved, will be judged according to their acts. I'd rather be judged than blotted out.

Salvation is a post-Jesus idea that different biblical writers approached differently. Most christian cults have centered salvation on belief and somehow tied belief to works (usually on the lines of if you truly believe you will do good works because of your belief). Still, like much of the theology that developed around the teachings of Jesus there is no clear single answer in the bible.

Salvation is a gift either we accept or we don't. If you look at John 3:16 it says "whosoever believes "in" him"... believing in Christ and believing Christ are two different things. If you accept his gift, believe IN him as the son of God, and accept that He sacrificed on the cross for our sins... then salvation will not be denied you.
