Hello- just passing by and saw your question.
I just need to clarify a few of the misunderstandings that have been mentioned by a few of your posters.
1. We would never tell someone that they are going to hell because as Jehovah's Witnesses, we don't believe hell exists. So that idea is just poppycock. : )
2. We do not go to war because God says not to. We can say I have not killed your son, daughter, mother, father, cousin- I am proud to be able to say that. Those that go to war, fight and kill those of their same religion. Does this seem like something God would approve of?
3. We whole heartedly believe in Jesus and the fact that he DID in fact come to earth as a sacrifice for our lives.
4. We are NOT a cult. That is just simply, pardon me but... stupid and ignorant. How is it possible to be a cult and believe in the bible as being inspired of God, believe in God and Jesus, believe in the holy spirit.
5. Jesus went house to house and from door to door preaching and teaching and he commanded us to do the same. This is the reason we come to your homes. It is not to annoy you. Do you really think it is pleasent for us to have the door slammed in our face, or to be belittled, or to be physically threatened? We go door to door because Christ said that is what we should do and our LOVE for Christ and for people (YOU believe it or not) is what compel's us to try and bring hope for the future to those who have none.
Just a side point to all the incorrect things printed, said, or believed about Jehovah's Witnesses- if there is truely any one here that wants to know what Jehovah's Witnesses believe why not go to the source? Ask a Jehovah's Witness next time one interupts your morning. Or while you are on-line reading this why not go to the only official website of Jehovah's Witnesses- www.watchtower.org

I know a lot of them in the community and they are hard working and honest. Probably the only christians that are.
They try to save our lives, that is more than the others do.
You are always anti=JW so why are we to believe any different.
Chill out and quit trying to put down other religions.
They are just people in the community that work in the Real estate office, one runs McDonalds and a cleaning service that does a great job. My boss said "the first time I hired a night crew to clean the office that didn't steal stuff"
So they have a good reputation in town so what is your problem? I even got invited to this Assembly they are having called "follow the Christ" People like you was telling me that they don't believe in Christ but every piece of literature I have talks about Jesus as savior and how one day he will rule the world. So get your facts straight when you start lying then no one will believe anything you say.

Matthew 5:11, 12
basically, they are footstep followers of Jesus Christ
they take very seriously his example and try to live as he did
He said "as they hated me, so shall they hate you"
so what exactly is the thing that Jesus did that the so-called christians who dont do hate them for?
read the following Scriptures to find out just one example by Christ that JWs do which members of other so-called christian organizations wont do
Luke 4:43
Matthew 24:14
1 Corinthians 9:16
2 Timothy 4:2-5
Luke 10:1-3
Matthew 4:23a
Matthew 9:35a
Luke 9:6a
Acts 5:42
Acts 8:4
Acts 20:20
Romans 10:15
1 Peter 2:21
Matthew 7:21-23
may the good news about the Kingdom be spread throughout the entire world!
agape!
p.s. to 'Adam'
JWs do not believe in "hell" so it's not possible any real Christian would tell you you are "going to hell"

Jehovah's Witnesses are themselves Christian.
It is true that Jehovah's Witnesses are not loved by everyone.
http://jw-media.org/newsroom/human_rights.htm
Some people hate Jehovah's Witnesses out of ignorance, or over some misunderstanding. A few may have had a bad personal experience with an individual who claimed to be a Jehovah's Witness, and prejudicially extended their animus to this entire Christian religion.
However, it seems that the majority of anti-Witness hatred is motivated by religious intolerance and bigotry. A few may even be motivated against their Christian worship by the unseen 'god of this system of things', Satan the Devil.
(2 Corinthians 4:4) the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers
Interestingly, such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:
(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.
(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.
(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.
It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

I'm a Jehovah's Witness (also a Christian) and just want to thank you for saying what you did.
Have a wonderful week. (((((SMILE)))))
Also, remember what Jesus said: John 15:19 - If YOU were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because YOU are no part of the world, but I have chosen YOU out of the world, on this account the world hates YOU.
So it's ok.

I'm a JW and yes its true there alot of anti JW questions out there but I think its mostly because people don't know what way to take us and there are some weird rumours that go around about us - like we eat pigs head, we are not allowed chocolate (eating galaxy as i i type ) we chant prayers, cast spells etc etc It mostly these untrue things that cause people to have negative feeling towards us.
Also because name we use is unfamiliar it makes people think we have a different God like Buddha or Alah but we believe God of Bible - we just use his name - Jehovah (encyclopedias and dictionary's recognise this as his name)

Who do you think are Christians?
“Happy are you when people reproach you and persecute you and lyingly say every sort of wicked thing against you for my sake.” (Matthew 5:11)
JWs are known for not celebrating religious holidays that most religions do, looking deeper it is because they recognize the roots of these. JWs do not take part of these worldly celebrations.
“If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.” (John 15:19)
Btw, thanks!

I think allot of people who judge us and/or our beliefs don't know them/listen to what others have said without learning on their own.* Also, as one of the answerers demonstrated, our beliefs that are diomectricly opposed to others, at times come across as a put down. ie Because we believe one way and are more than willing to share our beliefs, some take this as us saying, you are bad, when what we are doing are saying this is what we believe, this is why, etc.
* Case in point here are some of the things people on here have said about what I believe.
We (Witnesses) can't: use aluminum, play chess, kiss, dance, date, use technology, the list goes on and on.
I noticed Mr.C's Q on us was removed. I wonder if he will repost it, this time as a Q.

Well,
I'm a Christian (up to the others to decide if I'm any good at being it), and I don't hate Jehovah's witnesses...
It does bug me, how their theories are quite agressive against catholic clergy. I can actually see how this kind of radical opposive language can trigger similar counter-reactions...
Furthermore, these people tend to ring the bell on the most annoying moments. For that, I'm often bugged, as I'm bugged if someone rings my doorbell to try selling me a new dictionary (or whatever product).
Third: Talking about my faith, is also quite intimate. As I don't tend to tell people about my sex life or about my money habits to name a few... I don't like it if people come telling me how to live my faith. They are kind of intruding my intimate space. In a later phase, when we get to know each other better, I often tend to like talking about religion with people. But that's not a door-opener for me.
Last, I also have a big issue with the way they explain things and refuse to see the bigger picture in certain biblical interpretations. Often they even ignore the sentence before, after or referred to the sentence they quote...
So what do I respect in these people then?
I really respect the way they are enthousiastic about what they believe. Not many of us catholics are in the habit of talking about their faith with strangers... maybe we should do this more.
Second, they have a very strong community sence. The way they build their kingdom halls (don't know the exact word in English), is quite impressive. Even so is the financial solidarity they express.
Third, I think it's brave (though I don't agree very much with it) how radical they take the course. Once they're in, they live the life very consequent. Testimonials on refusing blood-transfusion, on expelling their own family, etc... are certainly not light choices to make. I respect them for their courage in these... but sorry them for the lack of critical thinking.

No hate here...If I politely tell someone no thank you, then I mean it..It's when they keep pushing the issue...One kept asking me how do I know I'm not wrong...b/c the whole time I was talking to them, the Holy Spirit was giving me a red flag..meaning by discernment, I had a check in my spirit...how do I explain that to them??
