Maybe you are just asking the wrong questions, not stupid questions. Keep asking questions, especially the difficult ones. As you have probablly discovered, many religions claim to have the insight scoop on God. I am a Christian and can only give you the reasons why I believe the way I do. History proves that Jesus Christ was a real person, and that he did perform many miracles. This is proved by many respectable historians that were NOT Christians. Most of them attributed his miracles to the Devil though. Another reason is plain logic. Salvation is found in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone. Salvation in every world religion and philosophy depends on their own merits. How can an imperfect creature make themselves perfect? I realized that I am a sinner, which makes me a criminal. Every criminal must pay the price for their crimes. In true Christianity, Jesus Christ paid the penalty for my crimes. All I need to do is ask him to forgive my sins and be my Lord. This will put me in a relationship with the true and living God. It will cause me to live a new life, which is a sign of true belief. I will possess eternal life. There are so many proofs to support this belief. Yes, there is a faith factor, but it is not blind. It is not a feeling. Can I ask you a question? Since tomorrow is not garaunteed to anyone, wouldn't you want to know if there is something beyond death? Wouldn't you like to be in a right standing with God, if God exists? Since death is a reality, you have to ask yourself is there a heaven and hell. If God exists, then you must somehow pay the price for all your sins because if God exists, then he would be righteous. Have you ever felt the need for justice to be done? I can never undo the things that I have done wrong. How can I ever know if my good deeds outweigh my bad deeds if I am an imperfect creature? These are some of the reasons why I believe what I believe. Keep asking questions.

There is only one God. So if you are asking for a multiple choice to research from peoples answers no wonder you are not an inch closer. Rethink your questions, ask what it is you really want to know.

No, you seek man's understanding. When is the last time you picked up a bible. Go to blueletterbible.com and read it. The only one who can bring you closer to God is Jesus Christ. Jesus was sent to this earth as our Savior. He has offered each one of us the gift of salvation.....but we have to accept it. We must see our sinful nature and recognize that as sinners, we are not worthy of inheriting the Kingdom of God. When we know that we are a sinner, then we know that we need to be saved. Jesus will save you if you simply pray and ask to be saved. Then, you need to learn who God is, and the only way to do that is to read His Word. You must also repent and walk away from your sinful nature......not in the instant you pray....but as God lives inside you, you will be changed by Him. You will feel guilt for your sinful thoughts and actions, and will become a different and more beautiful human being.

No, your questions are not stupid. It is not so much about that. I think that many answers are not the problem either. It might have something to do that you expect the answer to be different than it is, easy solution too. There is no shortcuts to a spiritual maturity. Give it time.
We actually down there deep in our hearts are longing for heaven, for it to be true too. We just are not so forgiving to God as we expect Him to be for us. : )

You shouldn't let people on Yahoo! Answers effect your religious views that greatly. No one can effect your relationship with God except you. You should make your decision based on reading and research. If someone says something that interest you in a negative or positive way, then research it, don't just take their word for it.

Ack!
You're depending on _my_ answers to bring you closer to God?
Oh, the _pressure_! ;o)
While I hope you can see some godliness in me, I'm not a perfect example, and neither is anyone else here. There's no one of any faith who can give you belief in God. We can be good examples, but I think discovering God is a process ultimately between you and Him.
You know my stance on this - if you believe in love (and I know you do), you believe in God.

Well...to be closer to a human being you need to talk to them not hear of them from other people so maybe you could try talking to God and then becoming closer to him.
