Well as the user said, you cannot edit powerpoint alone with Vista, you have to have a version of powerpoint installed on the computer. Now, if your new computer has Powerpoint 2007 on it, yes you can still use the files from 2003 on the 2007 version. If you are asking if you can install powerpoint 2003 on Vista, then yes you can. If that didn't explain it, feel free to email me and I can help you out further.

No. You can not edit a PowerPoint file with Vista alone. You need to either install OpenOffice (free) or install Microsoft Office.

OpenOffice (free)

Open Office Impress is the Open Office equivalent of Microsoft PowerPoint. Open Office Imress can open PowerPoint Files, and save as a PowerPoint file.

Can import from MS application and export to MS application unless noted:
Base = Microsoft Access
Calc = Microsoft Excel
Draw = Similar to Microsoft Publisher but not directly compatible
Math (Create equations)= No equivalent
Impress = Microsoft PowerPoint
Writer = Microsoft Word
No equivalent = Office Outlook
