Wow! I'm sorry you had that bad experience. In my opinion, turkey beats chicken almost every time!
One great way to have turkey is deep fried. Oh! it is heavenly. Inside the crisp, crunchy skin the meat is juicy and sweet - and no, it's not greasy. Not a bit. If you're watching your fat intake, don't eat the skin (but that is hard to do, it really is). Turkey, either whole or in parts, is great grilled, baked, cooked in the microwave. It's wonderful in soups, salads, as a main dish and in sandwiches and stir fries.
(It's also good just nibbled while standing in front of the open fridge in the middle of the night......)
Turkey is an inexpensive source of good protein. I wish I could invite you over and treat you to some really good eats!

simple is best i just wash the turkey and dry then pour a can of chicken stock inside and place it in a bag or the roaster with a cover and cook for 5to6 hours on 275 or 325 in that range real slow then the meat falls off the bones ,, and it tastes like chicken, i use the broth of a can of chicken stock and some of the chicken and turkey stock to make a good gravy then swamp the whole plate in it
