I heard that the pope suppports the theory. Does that mean that Catholics are not following the Bible?

The official stance of the Roman Catholic Church is that Evolution is too well founded in science to dismiss as false.

They still follow the Bible in every detail -- they just recognize that some parts of it are parables that hold a larger truth.

Catholic schools taught about evolution when I was in school, and they still do today. For Catholics, evolution is science, not a tenet of faith, so you can accept or reject the scientific findings without that having anything to do with your faith. What the Catholic Church does teach is that God works through scientific processes; something like evolution or the big bang can be scientifically sound as well as part of God's plan.

Catholics are free to believe in evolution. The Bible does not contradict evolution.

Most Catholics believe in evolution. All Catholics follow the Bible.

The Bible tells us that god created everything, but it does not tell us HOW He created everything.

Catholic doctrine states that true science and true faith are perfectly compatible, and that the Bible is NOT a science manual...it's a spiritual manual.

I believed in evolution before I chose to follow Catholocism, and was pleased to learn that Catholics are allowed to separate science and religion.

There's no question (in my mind) that God created the universe, and that it obeys God's laws.

God bless

As a whole the Catholic church has backed evolution although some may tell you they don't. An individual may not believe in it, and the church may not even teach it, but they support it.
