I was just wondering if a generator could actually run forever if it is powered by a motor which is powered by the generator itself.
Sorry if i'm lacking technical terms.

No. If it could it would be a perpetual motion machine. The problem is that the generation is not 100% efficient and the motor is not 100% efficient. That means that whatever energy was there eventually goes out as heat and the whole setup comes to a halt.

A generator is a machine driven by another machine.
Machines have moving parts.
Even though the moving parts are well lubricated, they are still subjected to friction and other energy losses
They will, at some time, break down and fail.

Ergo..No, a generator nor its driver will run on endlessly..this, anyway, would be perpetual motion machine..
Not yet achieved.

Remember besides some lubricate its does not mean input equal output . The restance in the wiring (wiring heating up)and the vibration of the shaft ( both motor and generator) over a period of time may cause the magnets to lose there field. With this in mind efficacy goes down first before total lose of power output. Good Luck!

This would be possible if there were no losses in the system. However, there will be energy lost (as heat) in both the generator and the motor. Realistically...everytime you convert energy from one form to another, some of it is lost. So to answer your question, no it could not.

A generator could never power itself. That would imply a pepetual motion machine. That's impossible.

Y are dreaming about perpetual motion and it will not work every tine energy is changed from mechanical to electrical about 40% is lost.
