One day each town it's really a short time...mainly for Florence and even more from Rome.
As to Venice I suggest you St.Marks (the Church, the tower and the place) , Rialto's Bridge and The Bridge of Sighs that are all in the same area. From St.Mark take a vaporetto (ferry) and have a trip on the Grand Canal. I wouldn't take a gondola since they're really slow for the time you have (and also very expensive). If you have some time left go to see the Accademia.
Florence in one day you can't consider to visit the Uffizi Gallery (a few days there are files of hours + 4-5 hours to visit and yr day is over...). I would suggest at least Accademia Gallery with Michelangelo's David if not too crowded.
Then it's a must Santa Maria del Fiore Church, Campanile di Giotto, the Baptistery with the golden doors, the Old Bridge, Pitti's Palace and Boboli's garden. Florence is not that big and if you like all above sites can be reached by walking.
You'll have then the opportunity to give a look to the ancient buildings of the medieval city.
As to Rome I suggest you to take a day trip bus and visit whatever they can offer. If you do that by yrself you risk to miss
something being the town really big. With more time I would suggest you a few sites to be visited travelling by the Metro but with only one day it's an "impossible mission".

Florence has much more to see and do than Pisa. While Pisa is a nice town, Florence has world class art and sculpture in the Uffizi, Pitti Palace, Accademia, Bargello and other galleries. There are alsoan extensive old town and spectacular churches. It's also a direct stop on thee train line between Rome and Venice. Pisa adds a bit of travel time.

Hmmm
I suggest the bus trips then...except venice. They take you to the main things in each city and you can get off etc.
Venice....going along the canals (just on the regular "bus" boats), the Doges Palace is quite cool and walking around St Marks square

Florence...seeing the duomo...lovely. There are the museums (uffizi...opps forgot name, but something like that) and the David statue (but there are 2 replicas outside too)... but queues are generally horrendous (ie I spent 1 1/2 hrs in the line to see David, and spent about 20mins.
Just roaming the streets are lovely too (but lots of people)

Rome....again the buses....see the colloseum, vatican city (and sistine chapel), trevi fountain and maybe the pantheon.
