It's got a cylinder, which serves in a revolver as BOTH the chamber and the magazine.

It does not have a removable magazine that feeds rounds into the action, like a pistol does.

Note: not all .357 Magnum guns are revolvers. There have been carbines in .357 Mag as well as at least one semi-auto pistol.

The nomenclature 'magnum' does not determine whether or not a pistol has a magazine. A .357 Magnum normally is a revolver cartridge, but it can be used in a carbine chambered for this caliber or a semi-automatic pistol (the old Coonan pistol or the still available Desert Eagle both box magazine fed).

Also, don't confuse the .357 Sig (a relatively new cartridge) with the old .357 Magnum cartridge. The two will NOT interchange but are considered ballistically similar. The .357 Magnum is a straight, medium bore cartridge longer than the .38 Special. The .357 Sig is a 'bottle-neck' cartridge based on the .40 S & W (also fairly new) and necked down to approx. .355 of an inch. It is actually closer to the .9mm but designated as a '.357' because it is intended to duplicate the performance of the .357 Magnum, but out of a semi-automatic pistol.

I hope that helped.

The 357 is a magnum and in revolver from it does not have a clip/magazine. But since the Intro of the Desert Eagle the 357 is now used in Semi-auto's so it does have a clip/magazine when used in these types of firer arms. It is not the shell that deter-ms if a magazine is used or not: but the type of gun the round is going to be used in makes this choices. The 357 was first intended to be used in revolvers: but the Desert Eagle started it being used in semi-auto's where a clip\magazine must be use. There for this round can now be used both ways.

Just because is is a magnum does not mean that it has a magazine it is just the caliber of the gun... now you can shoot 38 special rounds through a 357 magnum revolver but not the 357 sig because of feed problems due to the length of the bullet and the magazine.

.375 Magnum is a cartridge load. The first .357 was a revolver. Revolvers don't have magazines. I havn't been keeping up with the latest in firearms, there might be an automatic pistol in that caliber by now. If there is, it would have a magazine.
The caliber .357 is exactly the same as a 38. Years ago, when the 38 first came out, it was improperly measured. The actual measurement is 357/1000 of an inch. The old name stuck. So a 38 is not 38/100 inch, but 357/1000 inch.

.357 magnum is a cartridge, usually for revolvers, straight and rimmed. you put them into cylinder, not a magazine. there are some .357mag automatic pistols too, like the Coonan and the israeli desert eagle.

.357 sig is a bottle-necked cartridge for automatic pistols. it takes the body / shell of a .40 SW and a .357 bullet in the neck. pistols in .357 sig have a magazine.

No, a 357magnum is a magnum. A 357 sig is an autoloader round and has a magazine. A 357mag can have a cylinder, if it is a pistol, or a magazine if it is a rifle.
