First Avenue and East 34th? It's the NYU Medical School..I have an interview there and if I get I will go there. It is along the East River and right next to the Amtrak. What area of Manhattan is it? Where would you recommend I live that would not be too far? Since it's right by the Amtrak would it be worth it for me to commute? My parents can afford for me to rent like 2k a month.

Thanks, I am a clueless Texas girl..all answers will be appreciated!!!

Its a good area, very good, pretty safe, you can get a small 1 br for 1500 and up, a nice place that is, don`t go past east 96th street, unsafe there and up towards the bronx,Easy to commute there too if you live elsewhere like queens,(cheaper rent in Queens), Subways and buses run all over the city and are very safe during the day, cops all over since 9/11, good luck--John

The area you are asking about is called Murray Hill. And for a little more information, Amtrak runs to Penn Station which is at around 8th and 34th with the 4/5/6 subway being at 33rd and Park.

I live in the area, great place in my opinion.

Thats a great area. Its not by amtrak but by the 4-5-6 train lines....called the lexington avenue line. You can probably find a nice apartment around the high 60's and first ave in you price range and live in a good neighborhood and you'll have an easy commute.

It is not right next to the Amtrak, about a mile from it. Live in midtown. $2000 a month and you will be fine.
