The laws concerning "Juvenile" cases is somewhat misleading.

A juvenile case being "sealed" means that it isn't a matter of public record like that of an adult. Additionally, a juvenile case does not normally go on the typical "records" one sees with adults.

It is a record which is still obtainable by the courts, district attorneys offices, and law enforcement, but still not an "Adult Record!" To be accessed by any of the above, there must be a legitimate reason with documentation justifying such access.

As far as having a record "sealed," this is not necessary as this is an action required by law!

Hope this helps...best wishes.

IF the lawyer charges you to seal the record, he is a shyster! There is no charge to seal records - it's automatic for juveniles.

You have peaked my curiosity. How much trouble could a 10 year old possibly get involved in that would affect his future?. Then again, it is Texas. If it was that serious, contact a lawyer for advice. A lot of them do have free consultation.

I think that is pretty much automatic in Texas. Juveniles records do not carry over to adulthood, depending on the crime. So long as he didn't shoot somebody.

I'd pay the lawyer for a quick phone call to check what these guys are saying. In Virginia, you have to file something--it isn't automatic (but isn't costly either--I think it is free).
