You may have a Ragdoll, but without its registration papers and pedigree you cannot prove it. The value of a pedigreed cat is based on the championship points it has earned or its parents have earned in the show ring. Professional breeders will almost never sell a kitten that has a good chance of being a champion or grand champion. They will keep them for breeding and instead sell you a "pet quality" cat that they will require you spay or neuter in their sales contract. If you purchase a show quality pet for the purpose of competitive showing, breeding or studding, you will pay top dollar. But at some point, even grand champions are retired, neutered and either adopted out or sold at a reduced price to make room in the cattery.

Ragdolls are very, very docile and laid back cats. They are also a VERY large breed. Ragdolls can easily reach 20 pounds, especially the males. Females will weigh about 15 pounds. Compared to the average cat of 10 pounds, that's quite a difference in size.

In any event, all kitties are priceless once they become our beloved companions and family members. :-)

Hi Krystal...Ragdoll cats are pedigree however if your cat wasn't an offspring to two Ragdoll parents then she would only be considered a Domestic Long Hair (DLH) with colour points. A breed is a domesticated subspecies or infrasubspecies of an animal by defination therefore a cat to be a ragdoll must be born to ragdoll pedigree parents.

Why, would you love the cat less if it wasn't?

If it's a purebred Ragdoll with papers and everything, than yes, I would assume the cat had some monetary value. But just like in dogs and horses - no papers equals no proof, so no money.

I agree with the person above me. Unless you have papers to prove that your cat is a purebred Ragdoll, then you cannot sell him/her for the average price of a purebred Ragdoll.

I've been checking to buy a ragdoll, and with papers, from a reputable breeder, guaranteeing health, so far have all wanted anywhere from three hundred (USD) to eight hundred. But the others are right, no papers =no money. But don't worry about the monetary value, just love it. I wish I already had one.

Of course it's worth something. It's your pet and if you are like me, your pets are the world to you. I know Ragdolls are very pretty cats. Sometimes if you measure worth in terms other than monetary, the value triples. ♥

A purebred Ragdoll cat goes for around 600 to 800 in my area. I have one that is a cross, but she's a beauty, and was born from two tabbies! A cross, which is what yours would be since you didn't get her from a breeder, isn't worth "money".

Without papers (more than likely) its a mixed breed, not worth a dime...
that is, as far as MONEY goes.
My cats are all mix breeds and their worth a million bucks TO ME.
