We just lost a two year old female to liver failure over the weekend , the vet said this was unheard of in a cat this old , we were lucky that her kittens were old enougth to wean . When she gave birth we was feeding her Nutra kitten food in the soft pac's because she liked it and it got her to eat but we found out latter that this was one of the foods that was on recall , we still have a couple left for proof if needed .

I'm very sorry to hear this - definitely hold on to those pouches and find out if you can claim. Did the vet say it was likely to be the food? The way I've heard, the food caused KIDNEY failure.

I wouldn't say 'unheard of' in young cats - I've only been a nurse for four years but I've already known one young cat to die from it, an one very young dog to nearly die from it, with no apparent cause.

I don't suppose any of this is a particular comfort to you when facing this kind of loss, so may I just offer my condolences.

First of all I am very sorry for your loss. I would make sure you contact the manufactures and tell them what happened. Liver failure is the most common sign with the recalled pet food.
