I think the religions that believe re-incarnation into animals is bad, are totally wrong! What is so bad about being an animal? They don't have to work, they don't have to pay bills, they sleep all day, play when they want, don't have to "take care" of their families, and just live a relatively carefree life. Does anyone else agree with me that being an animal is not that bad? Well, except for the poor animals that end up being abused by a**hole humans....

I do not think that most "Religions" believe that it is bad, but that it is inaccurate, especially if you are a Bible believing Christian. Also, animals do have to work. All of the wild animals work hard every day to find food, make habitats, protect their young. Some of the smaller animals work even harder because they have many more enemies. Like the muskrat. They are constantly on guard protecting their families. Domesticated animals are different, and unless they are of the working class, they are cared for by people. And yes, would do nothing but lay around all day, maybe play some. But they also do not have the right to choose and to live as they please. That sounds pretty boring to me.
There is no doubt in my mind that God created this world and gave us the Holy Scriptures as our instruction Manuel. To guide and direct our lives and to teach us how to live. Therefore, there is nothing in the Bible that teaches that we are re-incarnated. Only that we are immortal beings. And when we die we are dead until we are raised from the grave to enter into the kingdom of heaven.

You're speaking mostly of Hindus. And when they're animals (pets) die they treat them just like family members, with a respectful burial. They cry over the event. The whole family does. They cherish life of all kinds.
I may not totally agree with it (science does, they say there is a conservation of mass, and thus when even a living thing dies the engery has to go somewhere or become something else) but I can appreciate their sorrows in such matters.

SOOOOOO true! I agree, what is so bad about it? The worst thing animals have to worry about, is being hunted by human or their NATURAL predators..other animals.. I really wouldnt mind being reincarnated into an animal... But, yeah.. most ppl think animals are dirty and stinky and useless...

I invented a religion a few years ago based on this situation. Basically when you die you are reincarnated as a pet animal... a dog, cat, hamster, etc... What happens is you are adopted by a family who is part of the ethnic/political/religious group you've hated the most in your human life.
The point of the religion is that if you hate a broad group of people you will later have to depend on them to survive and may end up learning to love them. Living a life without hate is the ultimate goal.
So who wants to sign up?

Re-incarnation is based on the immortality of the soul.
The soul is not immortal. It dies.

It is a step further away from the ability to become enlightened.
Personally I think that animals are closer to being enlightened than most people, but then again....

We don't re-incarnate INTO animals, we reincarnate FROM them. Think of it as spiritual evolution.

Would you like to be reincarnated as a cockroach? I'm sure if you were, you wouldn't care. Are you comparing this as a preferable existence to human life? Well, if you like . . . but living as a sentient being is much preferable in my opinion!
