Yes. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing. Even though your body doesn't retain excess vitamin C, it still has to be processed through your kidneys, and too much of it will overload them. Don't go over 1000 mg a day from all sources, not just the tablets.

There are people who have taken > 10g (10,000 mg)/day of Vitamin C with no significant problems. I used to take about 12 g a day, but I got too lazy to continue. When you start taking too much for your body to handle, you will get diarrhea. I probably don't have to say this, but if that happens, stop. ;)

you can eat however many you want to. vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin and any excess that your body does not need comes out in your urine.
