You are missing the real issue in this story. That the life of an otherwise uninteresting, arrogant, deluded individual from two millenia ago and the oft-rewritten biography of him should have a say in the lives of far more civilised people multiple centuries later. Never mind that the glaring inconsistencies render this anthology historically worthless. Never mind that it is, even after numerous revisions, utterly amoral in places. Never mind that much of the historical events have been dis-proven. Never mind that even the majority of the non-christian documentation regarding this uninteresting man have been doctored. He still loves you. Unless you worship the wrong deity. Or work on a sunday.

HE quoited Psa as He hung there on that cross. "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani", it is done!
The time that Jesus Christ hung on that cross before His death, He stated this entire chapter of Psalms. He began with verse one and continued to the end, in the Hebrews "He hath done this". Many teach that God actually forsook Christ as He hung there on the cross. What a lie! How could our Heavenly Father forsake His own Son at the time He was paying the price for our sins? It is stupidity to even think such a thing; it's blasphemy. It even shows their ignorance concerning the Scriptures.
Every time Jesus Christ spoke to the Father, He called Him Father, not God. Not one place where he spoke to the Father did He call Him anything but Father. So it is written here in the first verse as Jesus was nail to the cross, that these words were spoken just prior to His death.
Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? That is to say, My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?
"Eli, Eli, Lmana Sabachthani"; meaning "My God, My God, for this I was kept."; meaning; "This was the destiny that Jesus came into the world for." On the cross Jesus did not quote as was written in the Hebrew, but in Aramaic the language of the location at that time. If He would have stated "forsaken me", it would have been "Nashatani" and not "Sabachthani". So we see that what Jesus was saying in Matthew 27:46, He was quoting this first verse of Psalms 22.
"To the chief Musician, upon Aijeleth Shahar"; "A Psalm of David". "Aijeleth Shahar" means "The Hind of Day-dawn", this is looking to the Day-dawn of the Messiah's Coronation, which is the subject of Psalms 22. the hind is an animal that runs free, and Christ was about to free many souls in captivity. The kingdom will now be bought and paid for in full.

There are so many insulting answers on here that I really have been shocked and saddened. All of you who have mocked the death of Jesus should be deeply ashamed. May God forgive you.

His last words were "it is done." This is the last thing that was said after he wove a spell of immortality round himself, the pagan equivalent of "so mote it be." Of course, the spell he spoke would be "unchristian" if printed in the Bible, so they took these words out of context like christians often will and made it sound like he was saying his life was over. The hole in this biblican translation lies in the fact that he KNEW he was coming back and wasn't ending his life, but preserving it.

No, I'm sorry, Jesus' last words were the same words you deserve: "Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing".
People like you who show no respect for other people's beliefs only deserve those words of forgiveness. However, as I'm not that pious I wish to extend to you my deepest contempt, scorn and disdain, while regretting the few minutes I have spent answering you.
You're not certainly worth them!

Why am I not surprised by the flip answers to this question? It goes to show that God has a sense of humor .... after all, he let these people exist, didn't he?
Perhaps God did that to teach the rest of us a lesson. Humm .... I wonder what it was ..... perhaps for us to tolerate animals and fools ...... no, that couldn't be it ...... no sense insulting animals and fools ......... oh, I know, it was to love each other, that's it. Well, at least God was nice enough not to make us like them too.
Bless you all. You do make me think.

Lame, childish jokes aside, it was "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit." Then he cried out in a loud voice and died.
