Yesterday my service engine light came on....I have approximately 62,000 miles on this car and everything seems to running fine, no problems whatsover. I have checked all of the obvious things including transaxle fluid, all to no avail. Before I sink a ton of money into having a garage diagnos this problem does anyone have any suggestions or know of any problems associated with this car concerning the light???

There are many components that work together in the engine to maintain optimal engine performance and economy.
A service engine soon, or check engine light indicates that there is a sensor that is reading a condition that is "out of range".
Simply resetting the light does not solve the initial cause of the problem.
Replacing a number of parts trying to troubleshoot the problem in the hopes of getting the light to stay off is a tremendous waste of time and money.
The simplest, and most economical way to alleviate your issue, is to have an engine diagnostic done by a reputable shop to determine what caused the computer to signal you to begin with. Just reading the computer codes may not find the "cause".

That being said, if per-chance you feel the need to reset the light in the hopes that it was a "glitch" of some kind, you could disconnect the negative battery terminal for a couple of minutes to clear the check engine light.

Also, did you get gas and put the gas cap on wrong?

Make sure you hear a click when tightening the gas cap. If you don't remember, loosen the cap and retighten it until you hear at least one click. If this is the problem, the check engine light should disappear within a week. If not, then take it to Auto Zone. They will connect a code reader to your car to read the check engine code for free. Then they will tell you what the code represents. But if they suggest some parts, their diagnosis may be wrong because they didn't test your parts or look at them. They are just making an educated guess based on the problem code.

If you haven't replaced your spark plugs and spark plugs wires yet, now is a good time. They may be the reason your check engine light is on. The plugs should be replaced every 30,000 miles or earlier.

It could be many many many things. That light just comes on when the computer in the car detects an error. It could be something serious, or something minor. An example of something minor, my friend's light came on. I checked it with my code reader. Turned out that they didn't tighten the gas cap all the way.
