when it expires you are no longer covered , they normally send you a letter reminding you that it is up for renewal and if they do not hear from you they will continue the cover.if you pay annually they will send you another bill or if you pay monthly like me they just continue the direct debits as usual and send you out a new certificate of insurance.

If it expires then it has expired... over.... done...finished... strange question.

However, if a policy comes to the end of it's term and you have a direct debit payment set up then the insurance company will automatically take the money and renew your cover.

Usually once the year is up so is the policy if you do not renew it. However, a few companies will keep it going - and keep taking your money if you pay by DD!! unless you cancel or until they do not receive your money!

If it's expired then you are not covered, you have no insurance.

If they can automatically renew it they send you a letter telling you they're going to, if you dont call and cancel they just take the money and renew.
