Serpent "Satan" says; For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." gen.. 3:5

Genesis goes on to tell the punishment for the action; man will work, women will have children.

The the Lord says "Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever." gensis 3:22

The lord never says that what the serpent told Eve was a lye. The lord actually confirmed the validity of what the serpant had told Eve.

So the serpants words were truthful?
We are as Gods?
So, if Eve had not gone against the word of God, none of us would be here?
Why is Eve called the mother of all living things and not God?gensis 3:2
Was God lying by withholding the truth?
When the book the Secret "Law of Attraction" states that we are our own gods, how could that be a lye when the bible supports that theory?God himself says so!

You see TRUTH as it was written and these words of the ancient hebrews were not UNIQUE. They come from a much older religion. The one of "Egypt," serpent and everything included. As the faith goes "Isis" not "Eve" is the mother. As for your question on whether we are "Gods," we are NOT. Only "one" from amongst us is ever chosen to be a "God on earth" at one time to teach and direct the peoples. Know in ancient times as the Pharoah / King. Hebrews followed suit when this faith dwindled alittle over a millenium b.c., only thing is they CHANGED much of the faith to suit "themselves." Yahweh, or better known to be "Jehovah," comes from a hill God the Egyptians believed in, in pre-historic times. (4000 b.c. to 7000 b.c. ?) As for mankind "falling" from the graces of God in heaven, MANKIND was CREATED in the image of it's creator, as it is WRITTEN, but that creator is NOT the holy one in heaven, but the SERPENT, as "hosts" for his spirit and those tossed out of heaven. Those "chosen" by this "God" WERE the "hebrews," and is WHY these peoples were known to be some of the most ruthless of their time, not only killing their enemies but their children and women as well........, but then none of their scribes wrote any of this in their HOLY words did they....

Your analysis of the passage of scripture misses out on the fact that the devil said, "Ye shall not surely die." This was, in fact, a lie; Adam and Eve are dead. Part of the serpent's words were truthful, we would be as "gods." But let's consider that for a moment: in what way are we like "gods?" Can we create matter from nothing? Can we command the elements of nature to obey us? Can we kow all things or be everywhere at once? The obvious answer is no, so in what sense then are they true? God makes His own rules for man to abide by, but man now makes his OWN rules as if he were his own sovereign. Worse yet, having experienced the "freedom" which comes with the ability to commit evil, man now thinks he has the right to decide whether or not something is evil, hence all of our many troubles.

You perceptively hit upon the fact that Eve is called the "mother of all living" rather than God being the Father. This is because mankind is now born with the propensity toward evil and does not have the characteristics he should have if God were his father. This is precisely what the new birth in Christ takes care of: we are born into the family of God and out of the family of man which is doomed.

Lastly, had Adam and Eve not disobeyed, the human race would still have continued since, you will recall, that the commandment to be fruitful and multiply was issued before the fall; hence they would have raised righteous, sinless children, which was God's will - to fill the earth with the image of the glory of God.

Hope this helps!

Tom

Yes
Yes
Unsure, things would be different
God is Eternal, living things are not, they are finite
No
Not familiar with that book, but it is true we ARE our own Gods because we foresake and defied God, the Eternal

Go, now, and NEVER punish your 5 year old for playing in the highway.

Do you always tell the truth.

Do you tell your 5 year old they will get SQUASHED like a bug if they play on the highway.

That IS the truth isn't it.

Do you tell your 5 year old what DEATH is and that they can be SQUASHED TO DEATH by a car if they play in the roadway.

Would they UNDERSTAND the concept.

The idea is for THEM to obey YOUR reasonable edicts. Without question. That is, assuming, you are a good parent.

And when their friends, the Serpents, tell them it's cool and your parents are being a drag, we play in the streets all the times! It's neat.

WILL YOU BE HAPPY with those Serpents! Will you be HAPPY your KIDS listen to SERPENTS and NOT YOU.

One day those serpents will tell your daughter "she'll like it."

They'll tell your kids, Ecstacy is a gas, Meth is a blast, LSD will open your mind.

One day they'll say "guns are cool, they scare people to death" and the Serpent will tell them they can have anything their heart desires if they point that gun and ask for money. Money to buy XBox, Ipods, PS3.

First off the bible speaks in parables. What is a parable might you ask? Its another way of saying the same thing but not directly saying what you mean as to mislead or to codify as not to be found out. Romans used to execute you for being Christian and people would secretly practice Christianity.
Second these books were written thousands of years ago and have been translated thousands of times. Did you ever play that game in school where you all would sit in a big circle and whisper a message into someones ear, when it got back to the original person it was totally different? Well multiply that by about 900 million and you have the Christian religion today. Christians used to believe in past lives and that you continue to live lives after you die, not just go to heaven. Jesus Christ spoke of his past lives.
You cant really qualify that question if god or Satan were lieing. Who's to say that god and Satan arnt parables or even heaven for that matter.
Let me ask you this. Have you seen god? Have you seen Satan? Have you seen heaven or hell? Whose to say we arnt our own gods in the sense that we are the only ones that are capable of salvaging our own soles? Is there more to life that faith in what a book written 2000 years or more agao says? I'm of the opinion that you should believe what you can see and no more no less. Makes life pretty simple.
Now back you your parable. So god was the suppressor of truth and Satan helped the poor little girl to open her eyes to reality. Ignorance is bliss but you dont live too long ignorant. I'm my experience the only type of person to suppress knowledge wants those around him to be week so as not to be able to fight back and feels that if anyone around him should become

The serpent was truthful. The tree of Knowledge gave knowledge of good and evil, which God was protecting us from. Then when Eve disobeyed God, he punished all of mankind. If Eve had not gone against the word of God we would be in a heaven like place assuming that no one ever ate from the tree. God never withheld the truth, he just kept evil away. To not know evil is what God wants, however without evil we can not recognize what is really good. I'm not sur eabout the God thing

Yes, Eve without doubt did have intercourse with the serpent and if one breaks the phrases again to the long-established Hebrew etymology one will discover Biblical evidence that the fruit was once now not literal fruit and the sin was once intercourse, which introduced forth a person-little one that was once now not Adam s son. Serpent is solely an additional identify for Satan and your factor of reference is Revelation 12:nine. Study to be authorised of YAH.

The serpent represents wisdom - this is a borrowed concept from previous creation myths - at some point the intelligence of men and women was such that we achieved consciousness and became moral individuals - morality is that which is god and therefore we are no longer animals but rather (in a sense) like god - "knowing" the difference.

The serpent didn't lie at all! We became "AS gods" in that our eyes were opened to the knowledge of sin. If Eve hadn't sinned, it doesn't mean no one else would ever have been born; it merely means we'd all be living in a perfectly ecological society naked and carefree to be so! God NEVER lied or withheld any truth. Adam and Eve DID die eventually. The reason He kicked them out of the Garden wasn't only because of their disobedience, but also due to the fact that IF Adam and Eve had been allowed to remain in Eden AFTER partaking of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and had ALSO eaten of the Tree of Life, THERE WOULD BE NO HOPE FOR SALVATION, because Adam and Eve would've lived ETERNALLY as we all would have in a PERPETUAL STATE OF SIN! We are not our own gods, for we were created in GOD'S IMAGE. We are a LIKENESS of Him. Without the power granted us through salvation, we can never hope to perform the miracles that men and women in the Bible performed! If we were our own gods, there'd be no need of Heaven or Hell, for we would be masters of our own little corners of the universe and Christ's birth, life, death and resurrection would've been a waste and a tragedy.

Fantastic question!
No Satan didn't lie and the result was knowledge. That is part of the reason for a theory I'm working on where the God of the old testament (who you'll notice is not a really nice guy, and tends to have a jealous streak) and anytime something really nice happens, it's done by an Angel of light, but when he's pissed, he does the deed himself. The Angel of light could not be representative of God the creator, but rather of the God of love/light (Jesus' god of the new testament) and is running interference throughout the old testament.
I haven't (obviously) finished all my research and determined if it's truely a valid theory, but it does make you think.

The serpent did not tell the whole story, the sin was not what the serpent told Eve, the sin was that Adam and Eve disobeyed God. God said done eat, He did not have to give them a reason since He is in charge. I have children ,if I say don't do something or you will pay the price and they disobey me and do it , then they will pay the price and I do not have to give them a reason, I am in charge.

The serpent LIED to Eve in telling her that she and Adam would be like Gods. That was the rub. They did become aware of their fallibility, but that didn't mean they were given the knowledge of God. The Serpent tempted them with a promise of being as knowledgeable as God, and being as powerful as God, which WAS a lie.
