Why do so many Muslims get so upset when they feel Islam has been 'insulted'? Jews and Christians believe what they believe just as strongly as you believe what you believe but they don't react as vehemently to slights, real or perceived. Please keep in mind I'm not saying anyone's right or anyone's wrong--I just truly don't understand this.

No, I am not kidding; I thought I made that clear.
I saw several anti-Christian and anti-Jew cartoons after the original anti-Muslim cartoons came but but I didn't see any riots.
If you know very many Christians or Jews, you know that a lot of them take their religions VERY seriously.
Come on, folks, you can do better than this.

You have got to be kidding. Christians react at LEAST as strongly as muslims, although it is true that jews seem to be more tolerant.

This is something I've been trying to understand too. I guess we take our religion much more seriously. We dont even say the name of any of the Prophets without respect and we dont touch the Quran unless we are clean. People maybe dont understand how sacred our religion is to us and to see it degraded like that will of course not result in good reactions. Some people react more than others. I admit I was mad when I heard about the cartoon but definitely not enough to fight someone over it. The muslims who did start to fight seem to think that you can force respect out of someone by reacting this way. But they have only made it worst. I guess muslims take their religion more seriously but not all muslims react that way. Most muslims are embarassed by the way people reacted at the cartoon.

Earl D-- Please go away. You know nothing about my religion. I dont call anyone an infidel :-\

Well, I tend to be a bit "vehement" when I have been insulted to the extend Muslims have. I mean, they are pretty much all considered terrorists and evil (by US society, at least). I'd react kind of strongly to that.

I think you're wrong to say Jews and Christians don't react as vehemently to slights - they most certainly do!!

Look at that woman in England who sued because she was asked to tuck her crucifix under her shirt at work, for safety...

It's not so publicised, because sadly the government in both the UK and the USA want to demonise the Muslim religion at the moment - but EVERYONE is very sensitive on the issue of religion.

It's a cornerstone in their religion. Just like turning the other cheek is a cornerstone in Christianity.

In Islam there are Muslims, non-Muslims and Infidels.

To rephrase this, the Religious, the PC and the Opponants.

I guess you never read Christian's answers then. Anyways, how can you measure this. Do you count every upset answer and say, that makes 120 for Muslims and 3 for Christians?
Where is your proof??

have you ever heard that a moslim newspaper or magazine or and moslim shiekh insulted christianity or any other religion.
Islam doesnot allow insulting any religion to avoid others to insult Islam.
but what happen is that some people because they hate Islam they try to insult Islam just to make moslim angry.
believe what you believe, we dont care for what you believe. what you believe is for your self. every body has his own belief and every body free to choose what he wants but dont insult other religion.

If somebody puts your entire faith down by saying it is a religion of complete violence, it teaches terrorism and all its followers are terrorists then surely that would be quite insulting?
