Is it spiritual, mental, physical?
I am a 15 yr. old Christian, and I just don't seem to have a lot of emotion...just lethargic and apathetic. I hate this "feeling" with a passion (I guess you could say that that's a little emotion right there, but it's not really emotion, you get it?) Any explanations would be REALLY appreciated.

the emotional part of the brain has been damaged

Could be lots of things. Most likely, it is physical...brain chemistry, or lack thereof. You say you are 15 - are you smoking pot? That could be causing those feelings as well. Or, it could very well be something emotional - but Im not aware of your upbringing, so I cannot state with certainty.

If you dislike how you feel, I would suggest seeing a medical professional. No need to feel embarassed - many many people suffer from the same issues.

I wish you the best. Just so you know, the opposite of being emotionless is being a big fat wussy. Dont go there either bro!

Perhaps you have a deficient amount of serotonin, dopamine or adrenaline in your brain. Or maybe some part of you limbic system (the part of the brain the controls emotion) has been damaged. I've read about long time users of hard drugs, such as heroin and meth, damaging their brains to the point where they can barely experience joy. Whatever the cause for your emotionlessness, I don't think it has anything to do with spirituality. The answers you see lie in neurology and psychology, and a doctor could help you with this problem.

I would say it is spiritual, mental and possible physical. There are certain brain chemical imbalances that can make a person all dead and unfeeling inside.

However, many times these feelings (or lack of feeling, if you will) respond as well to spiritual practices such as meditation and yoga, or to the experience of being with a group of loving, happy people who welcome you into their midst.

And as to the mental aspect, it is clear that you can intellectually face the problem of feeling isolated, numbed and so forth, decide what to do about it (join a club, take up a study or a hobby, go to a dance, whatever) and do it.

Teenage years are crazy. Not because of the environment, so much, but because your brain is growing rapidly. It grows rapidly and randomly, then when you're 21 or so, the neural pathways that are working out well become the main ones, and others atrophy. Basically, the alien will be in control of you until you're 21...good luck!

P.S. Stay away from religion if you can...they want your soul.

Could be puberty/hormones, could be depression. It also could be emergent sociopathy.

Even if you don't feel depressed, it may be a good idea to consult a physician or a psychologist/psychiatrist. Forget the stigma that is associated with depression and give it a try.

If you're dead-set against therapy, consult your clergy. They are there to mentor and guide you through the various ups and downs of life.

Feeling apathetic is a sign of depression. All the faith in the world can't heal depression. Talk to your doctor.

try empathy, it is the ability to pick up on others moods...

go make some freinds and get into trouble or go out to eat together and you will experience emotions again.
