I heard that it means that it is your ear cells dying and the ringing you hear is that exact frequency that is dying...

Ringing in ears is called Tinnitus. It may b due 2 overdosage of certain antibiotics or as a side effect of a drug.... It may b due 2 infection of middle ear too.... So elimination f etiological factors, disuse of those drugs may correct Tinnitus...
If it persists, then u hav 2 consult ur Otologist 4 effective treatment. coz Prevention is better than cure!,,,,
So eliminate complications due 2 irreversible damage 2 ur ears..

Maybe to wake you up when you oversleep! (Ha..Ha..) Actually, it is an indication of some ear infection and a doc. consultation is recommended!
