I was visited by some missionaries last night, and I have to say, that their message has followed me all night. It was something I have thought of for a while, but it seemed to get stronger last night. The only thing that bothers me is rumors I have heard of the church, from people who heard from somebody about one thing or another, and I just want to hear some actual accounts from people who have had real life experiences through the church that may have convinced them one way or another. I just want to be as informed as I can with this church. .....Also..my boyfriend of 2 years's father is mormon, but my bf won't join the church if I do..hes talking to the missionaries with me, but has already expressed his opinion to me.

As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon), I must say that I absolutely love it, and I truly feel blessed to have a testimony to this church. We place a strong emphasis on the importance of family, good morals, and high work ethic. Our beliefs may look different to an outsider, but I believe that is the case with pretty much any faith.

There are always misconceptions out there about the LDS church. How we "aren't Christian"...how we "don't believe the Bible"...how we
"practice polygamy", things of that nature. Those seem to be the most common ones I have come across anyways. All of these are false beliefs, and it gets frustrating to hear these inaccurate statements made so often. We are very much a Christian church. We accept Christ as our Savior and Lord, and we pray and worship in his name. If that isn't Christian, I don't know what is.

If you are truly interested in the Church, the best way is to go straight to the source. You can visit any Sunday if you wish. The members will most certainly be welcoming and willing to answer any questions you may have. Talk to the missionaries, a Mormon friend, neighbor, etc. I've never come across a fellow member who wasn't willing to take the time to provide some insight about our beliefs to a non-member. Anyways, I hope you find what you are looking for. Here are some great websites. :)

There are wonderful people in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There are also bad people. But the same can be said for all churches. And as for someone's claim about checking out Colorado City, those people have nothing to do with the LDS Church. They call themselves Mormon, which is not what members of the LDS church are. They are Latter-day Saints.

There are many truths found in the LDS church that are not found in other churches. You should decide for yourself if what you have been told is true. The opinions of people on this site are lopsided at best. You would be better served to read, ponder and pray, as I'm sure the missionaries have instructed you to do.

Best of luck to you.

i'm LDS so I even have an excellent opinion concerning to the Church. BTW there is not any Mormon Church, that's the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. What numerous non-LDS human beings say concerning to the Church comes from critics web pages. and those web pages tell all forms of comments to degrade the Church. in step with danger we don't accept as true with what's taught by skill of the creeds of adult adult males, however the the remainder of our ideals adventure up very proper with different religions.

The biggest reason to join or not join is the Book of Mormon. If you are convinced, in your heart, that this book is the word of God, like the Bible, and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, then you won't have a problem. OTOH, if you join for any other reason, and don't have that testimony of the Book of Mormon, you're gonna have a hard time.

A good web site for answering those "problems" you hear about is http://www.fairlds.org/ . Another good web site for a lot of things LDS is http://www.lightplanet.com/mormons/index.htm . And you can go to http://journalofdiscourses.org/ to look up any quotes given from the Journals of Discourses. And of course, there's our official web sites.

Missionaries don't tell you EVERYTHING, since #1, there's not enough time and #2, they wouldn't know anyway. They're not theologians.
Please visit http://www.exmormon.org/tract2.htm - it's written by people who've been there, and discovered the darker side of this cult. Mormons will scream it's all anti-mormon propaganda, but they say that about anyone with a different opinion. Your're dealing with a group that only accepts blind obediance, absolute conformity, and NO dissention. Think David Koresh in charge of Utah.

Ask a Mormon what they think it takes to be right with God, to live with Him in Eternity. Then compare that to what the Bible says. Use these verses as a guide. They will tell you about our condition as people, who Christ is, and what God requires for admittance to heaven.

Apparently, I am at about the same place you are in now. I realize that if one wants to run someone down; there is going to be something negative to focus on. (Romans 3:23), Mormons included. I will tell you that many 'Christian denominations' have 'structural flaws' (here in the USA presently). I want to delve into the Mormons 'America's' issue (and the plates) a bit more (and the 'witnessses' of them) at this time.

The biggest problem that I have is with their book, The Book of Mormon. Not one shred of evidence has EVER been found that proves the existence of any of the people mentioned in the book. One would think that a civilization of millions, who waged war and battles in the Americas would have left behind some evidence of their existence. Not one archeological scholar has ever found one single piece of evidence.

Every other major religion has some level of archeological proof that at least the people mentioned in their holy book existed. The book of mormon has nothing. The entire foundation of their religion is built on this book that is an utter lie.

Even the names that are used in the book have no origin. They are neither Hebrew, American, or anything else. They are completely fictional, made up by a man named Joseph Smith.

If the book used at the foundation of this group is completely false, how much more false is their entire religion. They have taken the pure word of God and twisted it to say something different.

Mormons are very nice people, but are terribly decieved.

Talk with the missionaries again.
Talk with members of the church.
Go to church to see for yourself.
Above all pray about it.

JAMES 1:5-6
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

Mormonism is a non-Christian religion, invented in the 19th century. It is non-Christian because the theology denies that Jesus is the eternal, divine Son of God, one of the co-equal members of the Holy Trinity. (This is the traditional, rock-bottom definition of a Christian religion.) In another sick twist, it is asserted that Jesus and Satan are brothers. The 19th-century invention of this religion by Mr. Smith is indisputable. There are many bizarre beliefs within Mormonism, most of which are swept away by their missionaries, who are taught many rhetorical tricks to befuddle their hearers. These beliefs are revealed, gradually, over a long period of time, after a convert to the Mormon religion has sunk in too far easily to extract himself. No, I have never fallen for the lies of this religion, but I have had Mormon friends, and have read some of the books and reports written by people who did sink into this religion, and who found the courage to escape and testify to the truth so that other people would be spared sufferings and delusions.

May God preserve you from all harm.
